Hi all, I’m a waiting bee, we have been seriously discussing getting engaged since November. My OH has asked me for ideas and we’ve done some shopping. I tried on the princess cut ring here
the other serious contender is http://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/164035707/on-sale-white-gold-1-34ct-pear-shape?ref=sr_gallery_9&ga_search_query=Black+diamond+ring+pear&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=GB&ga_search_type=all
(sorry for posting links, I’m not sure how to post pics)
i love the princess, it’s so gorgeous and sparkly. However I also love how unusual the black diamond is and its much better VFM. I would really appreciate opinions and comments, the black diamond is very ‘us’ but I’m a bit wary of something non traditional and what if we order it from the US and I hate it? Feeling very confused now!

@Manxy: I am personally all for the pear cut. Mainly because the pear shape is my favorite of all cuts. I am also not into the super modern style of the princess ring. Just my opinion 🙂

@Manxy: can’t click on those links from my tablet but I voted for the black diamond. That’s what I picked for my dw and its gorgeous!!

of the two, i like the first one best (not a fan of black diamond)

Thanks for the replies Bees, think I’m now leaning towards an oval cut white sapphire, I am so awkward! 🙂

I can’t vote – I really cannot decide
Those are two VERY different rings.
The princess cut is classic and timeless – it’s a pretty standard engagement ring
The pear cut black diamond is atypical. I never used to be a huge fan of pear, but it has really grown on me with time. I wonder about whether this ring might feel trendy…
So do you want your ring to feel like a safe choice? Go for the princess
Do you want something different? Go for the pear cut
OR if you want to go for the surprise, let your FH decide 🙂

@Manxy: Out of those two, I’d go with the pear because I love the shape and prefer a single center stone.
I also love ovals though, and sapphires are great!

@missamysmiles I think you are spot on with the trendy comment, I don’t think I would love it so much in 10-20 years. Arrggh decisions! I bet I love whatever my FH picks though 🙂
