    I skip my period to only have 4 periods a year. You will be fine, it won’t throw you off. Your pill is pretty much doing the work for you and if you take it correctly, you will not miss that one skipped period.

    I do this on occasion, I’ve never had and ill effect from it so I’d skip to the next pack.

    I’ve already planned to do that if I end up having that problem. There is no way I’m dealing with that on my big day – or honeymoon – or even week of the wedding. haha.

    @mchitt329:  I do this all the time. There’s no medical reason for you to have a “period” while on the pill. It’s called a “withdrawal bleed” technically.

    I always take 2 packs back-to-back, then have a “period” and then take another 2 packs etc.

    Two things to keep in mind:

    -Make sure you’re on a monophasic pill (i.e. Alesse, NOT Tri-cyclen or any pills w. different hormones week to week)

    -You may experience a bit of spotting, especially since you’ve never tried it before

    I can only do 2 packs back-to-back because if I do 3, I get a lot of spotting.

    Otherwise, it’s perfectly safe. Skip the placebo pills, start the next pack, and then have your period after the second pack is finished.

    I do 3 packs back to back and only have 4 periods a year. It’s great. I have never had any spotting, cramps, other symptoms, etc. I love it because I only have to deal with a period 4 times 🙂

    Definitely do it! But if you’re worried, why don’t you ask your doctor just to make sure that it would work with your prescription? I never had any symptoms, spotting, anything like that when I skipped the placebos

    Since this is the first time you have done this, I say go for it. The likelyhood of you having breakthrough bleeding it not very good. I think you will be glad you did it, one less thing to worry about!

    I have skipped the “water” pills in the pack in order to skip a period from time to time.  Never had a problem doing it.

    Yup!  I only get my period 4x a year doing this… my gyno says it’s totally fine.

    I’ve done it with all kinds of “normal” pills and now I’m on Seasonale so I get the extra pills and don’t run out of refills before the end of the year.  🙂  The first pack of Seasonale I had spotting on the last 2-3 weeks, but the equivalent of 2 packs was never a problem for me.  You can even just add 2 weeks to your pack, get your period after your honeymoon, then save the other week for some other time when you want Aunt Flo to visit a week later.

    @canarydiamond:  This!!

    Check what pills your on first.  I did this once w/the tri-phasic one and I had break through bleeding.

    I’m on Yaz (just switched to Beyaz but it’s the same pill just with vitamin B. Stupid pills run out of their “new” status and get more expensive.) But both Yaz and Beyaz are fine to do this with. My mom is on the same and skips her period, always. I skip occasionally.
