What size stone are you considering?  I think for stones that are 1ct or below, symmetry looks better so I would go round.  I think 1ct ovals look off.  Once you get into 1.5ct territory, the oval stones look really nice.  It’s all personal preference though!

I don’t care for oval shaped for some reason.  Nothing wrong with it, just a personal preference.  I prefer round.

The oval will face up larger than the round in the same carat weight. That may be a bonus for you. They also generally cost less than a round on carat weight, so you can maybe even go a bit bigger if you wanted.

I wear a round, but I love ovals, pears, marquise…so I say go oval so I can see what you come up with, ha!

Ovals also will elongate shorter fingers.

I pick oval, so elegant, i think they look regal. Also a little different from the norm! I say go for oval!

I voted for the oval, because I think they are a little different and you dont see them too often. However, ovals can often get a bowtie effect so you will want to see the stone in person and make sure there is no obvious dark line on there.

I voted oval. I have a friend who had a solitaire oval that was set horizantally. So gorgeous!!!

I LOVE ovals. I think you will notice some color in a J oval. But is that a bad thing? Personally I feel diamonds all along the color scale are gorgeous, but that’s just me.

I say round.  If you get a round cut of top notch quality, the J color will be less noticeable. Check out this video below that compares diamonds of different colors (including J)

@Tigrrlily04:  I agree.  However, when it comes to ovals I also like very, very dainty stones as well as the larger ones (=

OP, I’m a lover of both shapes as well.  Personally, in that size I prefer a round, unless you have a smaller ring size.    This is all just personal preference though.

Oval.  Not that I’m biased or anything. 😉  I only know one other person in real life that has an oval e-ring…it’s unique, but still classic.

I prefer the uniqueness of oval. Pretty much every ring I see is round or princess.
