Post # 1
hi everyone, i just joined these boards after doing lots of research and learning a lot from all the posts i’ve read. my boyfriend and i are planning on getting engaged soon and have been looking at different ring styles…we have decided to go with an asha as financially it works for our budget and based on our research we feel really good about our decision. we love the fact that i can essentially have my dream ring at a fraction of the cost, leaving more money in our budget for the wedding and our future :c)
my question is this, i’ve decided on the setting and an emerald cut…but what we can’t decide on, is the size of the asha center stone…we’re torn between a 1.5ct and 2.5ct. we want it to look “believable” as a real diamond, if you will. but at the same time, i have small hands, like 4.5-5 ring size finger (i’m not 100% sure) but we don’t want it to look overwhelming and not believable.
can you guys please give me/us some feedback or even pictures? we would really appreciate any and all feedback.
here’s the setting we chose :c)

@navysubsgirl: I would DEF get the 1.5c.
1. the setting has stones in it already so you don’t want to overdo it
2. if you want it to be beleivable, i’d go with the 1.5c because you don’t want people to see somthing overly huge and think “must be fake”
3. in my opinion, 2.5 is….toooooo big for small fingers

Either one will be substantial. Have you tried similar sizes on other places?
Because of the sidestones, and your finger size, I think 1.5 will be generally more proportional and bigger might be overwhelming. But that’s just my general taste.
It’ll be more “believable”, but I think when you go the sim route, if you don’t feel comfortable with people knowing you’ve got a sim, maybe you should choose something else. If you’ve got flashier tastes, go with whatever would make you happiest. Also, if you’re torn between 1.5 and 2.5, why not go with 2 as a happy medium?

I would go with the 1.5 carat size because it looks substantial without looking overly flashy. The way I look at it, if you are going to be rocking a 2.5 carat stone you better have the lifestyle to go with it or you are going to look like a fake.
