I hope it turns up!

Can you turn off the lights (maybe after dark) and use a flashlight to help search? Slowly move the flashlight over the entire place and look for sparkle.  I remember my mom doing that to find a lost diamond tennis bracelet when I was a kid.  It took her a while, but she found it.

Also, do you drive? Have you carefully looked in the car, look under the car seat and between the seats, etc.  And check in whatever clothing/coat/handbag you used yesterday – I once though I’d lost an earrings but it got stuck in the knit of a sweater when I got undressed.

How big is your office? If it’s small you can go grid by grid checking the floor and leave signs for the cleaning people.

I lost a ring washing my hands at work once, I found it in the garbage can wrapped up in a paper towel.

It had slid off when I was drying my hands!

I’m shocked that you didnt notice it wasnt on your hand! Since it was new it would take time to get used to and if it was 16 carats, that would mean each diamond would have to be over 1 carat, it would be very heavy!

Anyway, I would definitely check the bathroom garbage, as thats where mine was!

@yamin:  Definitely retrace your steps and report it to maintenance and whoever manages the lost and found. Also, have you considered stacking a plain band in a smaller size to prevent the ring from sliding off?
