My fiance and I are having so much trouble picking a honeymoon that we are at the point of giving up. It has us so stressed out and confused we just don’t know what to do anymore.
My dream when I was younger was to have a honeymoon in Israel and Greece. My ex boyfriend was abusive and never allowed me to go on the free Israel trip given to Jews when they are at a certain age, so I was never able to go. It has always been my dream to go.
When my fiance and I got engaged I immedietly started planning the trip as follows: 3 days in Jerusalem, 3 days in Tel Aviv and 5 days in Santorini. But, when it was time to book we panicked and started trying to think of other options feeling like we had never even looked at anything else. We have travelled to some beautiful places; Jamaica, Cuba, Paris, Nice and I’ve been to Mexico, Dominican and Vegas as well. He’s been to St. Lucia. We wanted this trip to be the best one either of us has ever been on. We both love the ocean and beach so much and are scared we will miss it in the dessert and on a cliff but we had SUCH an incredible trip to France even without turquoise beaches.
When looking at other options we found it difficult due to hurricane season in the Caribbean.
To make things worse, I have been sick for about 2 years and things got drastically worse this past July which makes me scared to book a trip at all. But who knows if things will get better or worse so I still want to go on a honeymoon and not let my illness control my life.
Hawaii came into play and we were torn between our original Israel and Greece Trip and Hawaii. I then said lets rule out Hawaii because I think it’s too touristy and overpriced. So then we came up with Bali and it seems perfect for us other than the super long flight time. It’s tropical, theres SO much more to do than just sit on the beach but we can decide how much adventure we want and how much relaxation.
I know Santorini would be super relaxing and romantic but Israel might be too busy and packed which 1) may make me feel sick and 2) will make us tired.
Our wedding is really small so we didn’t expect the planning to be as tiring as it has been. What if we just want to relax when its all over? We’ve been on lots of tropical vacations will Bali just be rendundant beach photos???
We plan on going to Israel again in our lifetime and will definitly take other trips (even soon after the wedding). My dad is using his points that he gets through all his business travel to get our tickets so this may be our only chance to go to Bali while Israel and Greece we can do for our 1 year aniversary.
I think we just keep holding onto Israel out oh my fear that something will happen and I’ll never get to go. And I know it will be an INCREDIBLE trip unless I feel sick all the time.
If anyone can offer help or opinions it would be greatly appreciated because we are both pulling our hair out trying to figure this out! I’m also scared if we don’t book soon everything will get booked up!
