Well, I believe that you can design your own cake. If you want something fancy, look for a baker who works with foundant. Good luck!

I couldn’t find any cake that I liked all of the parts.  However, I had about 3 that I liked parts of it and other ideas in my head.  I took that to my baker and told him what I had in mind and he created a unique cake for us that I love.

Do you have any idea of what style you are wanting?  I say start with shape and height of what you like.  Then look into styling.

I know I do not want fondant

Actually and I know people will think this is weird I do not want the buttery buttercream I want the sugary crunchy frosting that you get on a really good birthday cake.

But since that seems to be a NoNo for some strange reason I prefer buttercream over fondant.  I would love the flowers to be sugar paste or piped.  I want lots of piping work on the side and and lots of flowers and Fiance wants it not to be solid ivory – I want 3 tiers but not sure if I want them stacked or each layer on its own stand sigh

So still looking for THE picture but I do know that if I just describe it I will end up with a mess lol

I liked to have the “aha” feeling with all wedding related purchases. I wanted to LOVE everything, including the cake. We ended up with a croquembouche, and almost a year later the guests are still raving about it.

We are doing our cake in buttercream too.  I don’t want fondant, I want good ole’ fashion yummy buttercream.  One great way to look for cakes is to go on bakery websites and look at their portfolios.  Their pictures might not show up in general internet searches but you could find something you love.  I just put in random cities and bakery searches and then looked through their pictures.  Good luck!

Fondant looks pretty, but it doesn’t taste good. It’s kind of waxy. Buttercream is melt in your mouth goodness! 🙂
