When my Fiance and I first got engaged, we asked his uncle, who is a graphic designer, to design our invites. We wanted something unique to us and he excitedly agreed to do this as our wedding present. Well, we got engaged in December, asked his uncle in January … and he still hasn’t finished anything. My Fiance has been e-mailing him every two-three weeks since late June to check in, and every time he says he’ll send us something by the end of the week and doesn’t. My Fiance called his mom, and she spoke with the uncle (her brother), and he told her he was having trouble with his business and it’s not going very well, but he still “really wanted to do it.”
At this point, I really feel like our invitations are creating a lot of stress for him. I’m stressed too because I’m worried he will realize he doesn’t have time and just tell us he can’t do them anymore. I am completely OK with this, but I need to know soon! If he isn’t going to do them, we have to go to plan B. (And by that I mean we need to get a plan B!!!) I wanted to send out Save-The-Date Cards by October … What should I do? Telling him never mind basically amounts to firing my future uncle-in-law, which would be very, very sad. Should I just leave it alone and hope it gets done? What if I wait and then I hate the design? Help!
