I picked out both the setting and the stone, but I didn’t see the two of them together until the night he proposed. Plus, I didn’t know for sure where/when he was proposing, so I felt very surprised and shocked, which I wanted!

Oh my god- I am DYING to see it. I gave my bf a lot of guidance and showed him pictures of basically two different styles. I know he has put a lot of time into picking out a stone and a setting, and that he really listened to everything I said. He said the other day that after looking for so long he finally got exactly what he wanted for the price he wanted… so I can’t wait! Even though I have a general idea, I don’t know what it will look like in the end. Also, this was a risk, but the style I liked I never tried on in stores because I couldn’t find it exactly (I requested a cushion cut diamond)

My bf  had me choose between 5 different settings (after figuring out what I like).  Then he took me to the jeweler to try different settings on and look at different cut/size diamonds.  But, like the PP, I have no idea when/how/where he is proposing so it will still be a surprise.   ๐Ÿ™‚

In the beginning, bf and I just went to jewlery stores to “look.” It ended up being soo much fun that we’ve kept looking and now I am involved in the whole process. I really love our trips to jewelry stores and it feels special. I mean how many times in your life can you go into a store and try on 15k rings? The rest of the proposal will be a suprise, but I’m way excited for the ring!

A part of me wished the ring was going to be a suprise too, but I was engaged before and HATED the ring. (or was it that I just hated the guy? lol) I didn’t want to repeat that experience.

I gave my guy about 5 different designs to pick from as well, so I have no clue which one he is going to choose.  I haven’t tried any of them on though because they were all found online.  The rings I’ve tried on in the jewelry stores at the mall were mostly out of our price range, and the few that weren’t were so tiny and ugly that I got a little discouraged.  Plus I couldn’t get a good idea of how they’d actually look on my hand since I wear a size 10, and the store samples only went halfway down my finger, lol.

So I still get the element of surprise, but I know that whatever design it is will be one that I love!  I absolutely cannot wait, yay!!!!!!!

I showed Boyfriend or Best Friend one that I am absolutely in love with (a vintage-looking Tacori), but it doesn’t matter because he told me I get to pick out whatever I want since “he will never buy me jewelry.” But he has some other proposal plan, and I know it will be so incredibly us, so a ring isn’t necessary.

I likely won’t get the one I love because it’s the cost of a vacation 2 times over and I would honestly rather have the vacations. ๐Ÿ˜€

Fiance and I had looked and looked and looked endlessly, but I wasn’t sure which one he was going to choose. In the end, he picked one that I hadn’t even seen, and I love it to death. But yeah, I spent a lot of time wondering about which ring he was going to pick! What can I say, it’s fun to daydream about sparkly.

I’ve given him tons of ideas and sent him bunches of links (including to several rings that are well within his limits), but I have NO CLUE what kind of ring he’s going to pick for me.  I thought he would get me a round-cut, since that’s his favorite, but now I think he’s leaning toward marquise-cut because the internet told him they make fat fingers look more slender (and I have really fat, stumpy little fingers ๐Ÿ˜› ).  The only thing I know for sure is that the setting will be white gold.  Since we don’t want a diamond, I don’t even know what kind of stone I’ll get!  Anyway, I’m just so excited to see what he finds.  He’s got very good taste in jewelry (though it’s quite different from mine – but he knows what I like, so hopefully he’ll find something that fits both our tastes), and I’ve sent him ideas, and if he’s still having problems, hopefully his mom will offer her help, since she has exquisite taste (I want to steal almost every item of jewelry she owns).  With all that, I know I’ll get something amazing.  I’m so excited, and the surprise will make it even better.

While I think that when the time comes the boy will ask me for help in picking out the ring, I would be half nervous/slightly scared/excited to see what he would pick for me! That said, he is a very traditional boy so it would probably be a simple band with a round stone. I am a little less traditional so would love a pear cut… but hey, whatever the ring ends up being I will wear very happily!

I have NO IDEA what it will look like, he won’t even let me send him links. Needless to say I’m bursting at the seems with excitment.
