QueenBee32 :  I loved my keyfit! I have carried my nieces and nephew in their britax and it IS heavy. I would go for the lighter one – you will be carrying it a decent amount plus it only gets heavier as the kid grows!

I have the Chicco as well. Haven’t tried the other one, but if people say this is easier to carry I’d hate to have the Britax! My little guy is pushing 17lb and it’s getting harder to tote him around in it. The stroller that goes with it is pretty amazing, gotta say.

We have the chicco and it’s been fine…baby loves it. However, IMO the chicco’ss already heavy AF so I can’t really imagine willfully going for something heavier.

I love Nuna car seats, but have also purchased a Britax. It is heavy and the straps are never even and hard to pull out. I’ve heard very good things about the keyfit.

I have the Britax and I love it. I have the stroller that goes with it ad it’s awesome. I don’t find the car seat crazy heavy at all and I love the infant padding. My SIL has the Chico and her babies head looked like it was hopping everywhere (it wasn’t, just made everyone nervous including her) until he got bigger. My baby is smaller but the padding gives him nice control without blocking his nose or slumping him down. The base clicks in so smoothly and I love the antirebound bar on the base for piece of mind

We’ve had three kids- all in the keyfit. No complaints and I liked that it was compatible (or could be) with multiple strollers (not just the Chicco brand). That said- has a a pretty robust review of all infant car seats- might help you decide. Congratulations!

So we bought a Chicco, but I regretted not getting a Britax for two reasons.

1) The Britax can fit a taller baby. The height limit is 32″ as opposed to Chicco’s 30″ limit. This may not matter to you, but my husband and I are both tall and not surprisingly had a baby in the 95+ percentile for height, so she outgrew her carseat by her first birthday even though she was no where near the weight limit.

2) Britax uses less toxic flame retardants than Chicco.

We registered for a Chicco. I originally thought I wanted a Britax, but after reading endless Amazon reviews about how they are so narrow that babies outgrow them quickly or look very squished and uncomfortable, I decided against it. I think Britax are heavier, too. I also liked the fabric on Chicco better.
