If any of you followed @Barbiestylez:
‘s review of ordering from an Etsy seller with zero sales which was posted about 13 days ago (http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/my-review-for-a-custom-made-dress-from-etsy-from-a-brand-new-seller#axzz2r0R3cvDr
) you may have seen that I decided to go with CaraBridal
for my custom replica of Wtoo’s Cyprus gown as well.
I placed my order on January 9th, 2014. Two days later PayPal contacted me to confirm my purchase was not fraud. CaraBridal received payment on January 11th and confirmed the dress had been started. On January 16th I was sent photos of my dress. The dress was shipped January 17th and today I received my dress. That means that from reciving the payment to receiving the dress it only took CaraBridal NINE DAYS to process my dress. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? For reference, I was told I was going to need to pay rush charges in order to get the original Wtoo dress within three months and that it would still be a tight deadline.
So here is the Wtoo Cyprus dress I tried on at a salon:
And here is the dress I received from CaraBridal today.
It’s a) really hard to take pics of yourself in a wedding dress, and, b) even harder to tie a corset back by yourself. So the dress doesn’t look like it fits quite as well as I’m pretty sure it will in the chest once the corset is actually tight. I can tell the material is not quite as high end as the original but it’s certainly not a $700+ difference and the fabric is comparable to three dresses I tried on at David’s Bridal which all cost more. Also, I will say the skirt of the original was slightly more…elegant? This one is a bit more puffy, perhaps due to the seam or perhaps due to the fabric. However, the corset back was something I couldn’t have gotten with the original and I REALLY wanted that.
Sorry about the images being sideways. I’m not sure why.
Overall, I could not be more happy. It’s stunning. The pink sash is NOT staying. It’s just the ribbon I had. I’ll be doing a blingy sash (like in the photo of me in the actual Wtoo dress).

@JJBelle: Congratulations on getting your dress WAY ahead of time!
I really do prefer the Etsy’s version of the Wtoo dress, especially the front part of the dress!
Sometimes, the really good dressmakers can finish a dress in 3 to 4 days. Then, the rest of the time is shipping. (This was what was explained to me — my Fiance is getting his suit custom-made as it would cost about the same to custom make from this tailor in Thailand versus renting from Derks)

Stunning dress! So pleased to hear another bride choosing an Etsy dress, and having it work out for them! You’ve given me a much needed boost of confidence!
I’d hazard a guess that having the dress steamed would help remove some of the volume at the skirt… It’s worth a shot, in any case!

Wow that is super fast! I am still waiting to get my pictures. It’s gorgeous and looks so much like the original!

Wow, that’s amazing turnaround! 🙂 I’ve ended up ordering a tea length reception dress (my JB trumpet/mermaid dress is great, but sadly I don’t think I could wear it all day comfort-wise) from a seller on rush order (before Chinese NY), hoping it turns out alright! If it does, I’ll still have gotten two dresses for the same price I’d have paid for one low-end dress from the bridal shop I tried dresses on at (and my JB one is better quality than the shop ones I tried on).

@JJBelle: I’m so excited to see another review on here! I was wondering about her materials quality. I’m glad to see you happy in a pretty dress. I ordered my dress from carabridal before you, so I’m hoping I’ll get pictures soon! 😀

I’ve seen several versions of your dress, and I keep telling myself I want it lol. I’m just as worried ordering on Etsy, than I am on ebay!
You’ve definitely helped encourage me to start looking again!
It looks FANTASTIC on you, btw~

The dress looks amazing on you!!!

Thank you! I have had others say they prefer the replica to the original as well. And is in’t it amazing that they can work so fast? I wouldn’t be able to hem a pair of pants in four days!
Good — I’m glad to give you confidence. I was really nervous in the beginning but as soon as I saw Barbiestylz’s review I felt pretty confident that things were going to go well! Let me know if you end up going with a replica and how it goes! And yes, I do plan to have it steamed so we’ll see if that makes it fall a bit mroe — either way, I’m so pleased.
Did you do CaraBridal as well? Good luck — I’m sure you will be happy with what you receive from Olive! And thank you for the kind words!
Isn’t it amazing? I hope you are just as happy with your new dress as you are with the JB dress! I’d love to see them both!
Woo — good luck! I am sure you will be happy. I hope to see pics once you get it! As I said, the materials were comperable to David’s Bridal gowns. I am definitely not disappointed with it. And the construction is very good.
It is a beautiful dress and I hardly see it anywhere on the Bee. There are definitely good Etsy sellers out there! I was able to find a few (very few) Wtoo Cyprus dresses used but none in my size or at a price I was comfortable with. I’d love to see photos once you decide. Thank you so much for the kind words!
Thank you so much! 🙂

Yes I ordered from Carabridal as well
Unfortunately my dress got delayed. It was supposed to be shipped out 26 Jan but I got an email from Olive saying that it will be delayed because of Chinese new year. So I will only get my pictures around 12/13 Feb. I ordered on Jan 8.

sorry to hear about the delay, I hope you get it in time. Looking forward to your photos!

wow that’s really good! i’d say the bodice of the CaraBridal version is more flattering on you than the original. the fabric seems less bulky around the hips in Cara’s version.
perhaps alternations could make the skirt less poofy by making the gathers smaller?

Beautiful! I’m considering Cara Bridal too now that I have seen such nice real results
