My favorite color is pink, yet I don’t want my wedding based on a typical "wedding/love" color. I fell in love with yellow 2 years ago and now I am ready to spread the love with my ladies. However I dont know if my BMs will hate me for putting them in yellow.
My plan is to have the wedding a week after Easter where the Easter Lilies will still be on the alter in April 2010 and YELLOW is so fitting… I plan on having them in a deep yellow, nothing close to white, bc i dont want them mistaken for white. I have visited davids bridal and dessy.com and i am not crazy for the canary, buttercream, or banana. Can anyone give shed light on my thoughts?

Yellow can be tricky, but it’s such a pretty color! I’d suggest finding few shades you really like and narrowing it down from there. Have you thought about using a complimentary color for their dresses and using yellow as the accent? (Maybe navy dresses w/yellow flowers, using yellow sashes or having the girls wear yellow shoes?) Sorry I can’t be more help! Good luck!

Bright sunflower yellow is BEAUTIFUL, especially with skin tones of any shade of brown. If you’re going to do yellow, go all out! Don’t hold back! I like saffron and tangerine, but check out the entire family of yellows for some inspiration. Good luck!

I think yellow would look great. I agree with meeshelles that it should be a bright yellow and not a soft butter yellow. The bolder the color, the better.

I aggree, I always think yellow (esp sunflower yellow like someone mentioned above) looks GREAT with brown toned skins, and TERRIBLe on most white girls. Something bold, with some orangy tones to it, perhaps?

My BMs will be in yellow!! Because it can be a tricky color (pastel looks good on some girls and sunflower on others…) I told them to pick their own dresses as long as they are a shade of yellow and the same length. My Maid/Matron of Honor is caramel skin tone and she always wears smiley face yellow (I’m so bad with colors…). Maybe something like this:

My bridesmaids will be wearing yellow too! they are wearing a lighter yellow which wasn’t my original plan, but I fell in love with the dresses! Now I just have to make sure the dress I pick is white, white, white!

Yellow is one of my favorite colors to wear and I have caramel brown skin. Here are some pics from my engagement shoot– I always get compliments when I wear this sweater: http://www.weddingbee.com/2008/06/18/engaging-photos-2/

Yellow is a gorgeous color and using it as a wedding color during the spring sounds like it will be gorgeous. I’m just in the beginning stages of my wedding planning, so I don’t have a lot of wise suggestions to share like the other ladies….I can say that yellow is my favorite color and as a brown-skinned woman, I too always receive a lot of compliments whenever I wear a shade of yellow. I’m sure your BM’s will look great! Keep us updated

As long as all are caramel, it should be fine.
I’m high yellow and had to wear canary from David’s Bridal in my friend’s wedding this past weekend.
Yellow on yellow does NOT mix.

Caramel should work with yellow.

@missMBear – your funny. I hope my cousin who is pretty light isn’t mad that I picked yellow!
I chose a lemon yellow that kind of looks more like a pale gold in some lights. I think it looks good on all of them. They range from a redhead with freckles to a brown skin beauty!

Yogigal-
Pale gold probably looks better than pastel yellow. I think even gold would have looked kinda nice on me. I think that pastel color just looked like my skin.LOL
BUT they are her pictures to look at, so if she thinks they are good we’re good to go!
