I think a 1.5 ct is plenty big for a 5.5 ring size. So if you end up not haloin, it’ll still look nice!

Are you thinking a chunkier halo?  Or more delicate?  That will definitely make a difference.

1.5 is a decent size. My engagement ring is a 1.10 ct with a halo and it covers most of my finger(Size 5.25). If it is set into a smaller more delicate halo it wouldn’t be too big. Is it a round diamond because that can make a difference too

sugarbaby:  That sounds lovely πŸ™‚  Maybe you can go to a jewelry store to try on rings that are similar sizes/styles.  Then you’ll know if you like the finger coverage or not.

sugarbaby:  i would say it really depends on the size of the halo. how many points are the diamonds in the halo? if you know the diamonds’ size, then you can figure out their actual measurments and thus figure out the total size of your diamond + halo.

also you can go to diamonddb.com and input your finger size and the size of the ring and see what it will actually look like on your finger.

sugarbaby:  my ring size is 5.25, the center diamond is a 1.71 cushion, but cushions face up smaller than rounds. I don’t wear any other rings either, and my taste in jewelry overall is pretty simple.  It took a little getting used to in the beginning, but never feels like “too much” and I love it!  Hopefully this helps! πŸ™‚

I have a 2ct+ center stone (on a 3 stone ring) and to stop it from snagging on everything, I had it set verrrrry low. It helps with it not attracting too much attention when not wanted (like with my jerk co-workers) but obviously it is a beautiful big stone! Oh and it doesn’t snag on anything!
