We are having our wedding next year and the theme is “til death do us part” i seen these at The Home Goods Store today and HAD to buy them…
I was thinking of using the skull as the Card Box , make a slit in the mouth where the teeth are and have that be the slot for cards, (its hallow) skull is meant for out doors its eyes glow, solar power…(im not putting it out side but the ride home it did get enough juice to glow for a min, they are white lights (i may just pull them out…but what do you think..
AND….what do you think, do you like the Bride/Groom as a set (smaller) or the Bride And Groom apart (larger)… maybe put them at the wedding also with the card box?
(yes that is a pen on the table they are HUGE)
Fiance wanted to build a 3foot tall wood coffin for the cards, i thought of this…what do you think?

@solidarity: sorry i got excited and forgot to post them ..ha

I think the big skull is a pretty cool idea. I don’t really like the man and woman skulls. I’m very partial to Mexican folk art, Day of the Dead stuff, though.

@solidarity: What about them don’t you like?
I was also thinking of painting the female dress white. ..

@AndysCraftsNmore: They look like Halloween decorations from the dollar store, honestly. There’s very little detail on them.

@AndysCraftsNmore: I disagree. I love the bride & groom but don’t like the big skull. The bride & groom look like a cross between American folk art and Dia de los Muertos stuff. My cousin did a whole Dia de los Muertos theme and it’s a big holiday for our family. The skull, on the other hand, looks like cheap Halloween decor. Do you have a Mexican art or party store near you? You might be able to find more Muerto looking stuff, which I think will read more “wedding” than regular Halloween stuff.

So you’ll definitely want to cut the slit in the top, rather than in the mouth, because as cards pile up, it would be hard to insert them from the bottom.
I think the lights are kind of quirky and cute, so I say keep em! As long as it doesn’t make a weird Halloween-y sound!
I ALSO think the 3-foot coffin is pretty awesome, though, so… tough choice!

It’s definitely not my style, but it’s pretty cool.
Is the skull going to be big enough? If you use it, I agree with the PP about putting the slit on top of skull instead of mouth.
Personally, I would choose the bride and groom with the coffin. Can’t wait to see what you go with!

The skull might be too small. Wedding cards were a lot bigger than we expected and our box wasn’t tall enough. Just a heads up.

It doesn’t look like it would hold very many cards thou. I would think an actual box with maybe a skull painted on it might work better. It just doesn’t seem like the shape of it would allow for cards.

I don’t think this photo is showing how huge this is. … the skull is 3feet tall 2feet wide. .. it’s massive
Here’s the skull lit up

I started off with the larger bride and groom and then when I seen the skull with the eyes lit, its a must have for you!!!

I think the skull is awesome! I would cut the hole in the top, too, as PP said.
