So I have this great chest that I want to use as a card box. I want to incorporate some gold and/or distress it to give it more of a vintage glam look. I don’t want rhinestones. I’ve been thinking of painting the quilted like lines gold. What do y’all think? Any other ideas?

The gold would look great. Perhaps a gold shimmer oil base-apply with a foam brush all over and then surface wipe (lightly) so the gold only stays in crevices. A sign that states “cards” eiter hanging on the inside lid (if you will have it open) or free standing in front of it (?)
Also, use the same gold on the lock part to dress it up a bit more too.
A lovely idea. And it already looks great.

I like the idea of the gold. Could you perhaps add some flowers to it in your vintage colors?

@MochiBride: Are you cutting a slit on the top or using it open?
If you are displaying it open, any treatment of the top will go sight unseen. In that case I would focus on the inside of the chest, and the front of the bottom section. What does the lining look like?
You could string a small garland across the open lid that says cards.
You could cut a strip of wallpaper with a vintage gold pattern and place it across the front of the chest- the part that looks green or blue on my monitor.

@wabanzi: love your idea! Very similar to what I was thinking! I’ve painted each hardware too.
@Treejewel19: thanks for the photo! I hadn’t but seeing it visually I’m considering it now. 🙂
@julies1949: the inside was kinda ugly but I may spray paint it. I like the idea of wallpaper and now it’s another thing to look for. 😉 but it’s definitely not green or blue – I wonder why it looks like that for you?
