Just wanted to get others’ opinions on this gift idea for my bridesmaids, since I’ve been so indecisive about what to get them! Here’s a little background:
Getting married in early October in New England, hopefully an outdoor ceremony if the weather works out. So temperatures could really go either way and I’d like to give my girls an option to stay warm if it ends up being a chilly day. I originally considered pashmina shawls but it seems so overdone, and I think the ladies might be more likely to reuse a cardigan after the wedding. I figured black would be the best choice since the guys will (most likely) be in black suits and my girls will be in dark purple (haven’t chosen dresses yet, the top contender is currently David’s Bridal’s mix & match separates in lapis).
So, all that said, what do you ladies think about this particular cardigan? Is the beading too much? Should I go with something more classic and simple?

I love the beading. That’s a really nice cardigan and I’m sure your BMs will love it.

@iheartnerds: I love the idea of a cute cardigan as a gift. Maybe you can look at Ann Taylor Loft and find some that are really cute and they run sales all the time. I don’t think it really has to be the same cardigan for each lady. Maybe you can choose something based on each BM personality. The different pops of color would look good in the pictures and would be a personal touch;0)

@Soladylike: Thanks, I’ll definitely consider Ann Taylor Loft before I make my decision. 🙂

I think the cardigans are an awesome idea but I’m biased since that’s what were getting our bridesmaids too. We’re having an outdoor wedding in October and wanted to get them something that they could wear for not only the wedding (if they chose to) but also afterwards. My girls are getting chocolate brown cashmere cardigans to wear over their burnt orange bridesmaids dresses.

I love it. The cardigan and the idea! Unfortunately August doesn’t lent itself to cardigans! 🙂 I think your girls will love it.

i love the cardigan you posted, it looks so pretty and I think your pictures will turn out really nicely with the men in black and the girls with their sparkly cardigans

I don’t like it when other people pick out clothes for me. While I think that’s a lovely cardigan, it isn’t my particular style. I’d have to fake thank you for it and then try to figure out what to do with it.

I did black pashminas, which my girls have used again & again. I like the idea of a cardigan as a gift, but perhaps something a little more cropped. It would look “younger” and dressier. I do like the beading though.

LOVE everything about this idea! I think the beading on the cardigans will look beautiful in photos and it an original take on the pashmina idea! If I was your bridesmaid, I’d be pumped!

I’m biased because I gave my girls cardigans. They loved them though! Here’s a non-pro pic…

I like the cardigan but would wear it to work rather than over a Bridesmaid or Best Man dress

LOVE it! i would definitely be happy to receive this because i can re-wear cardigans all the time.

I tried to get my BMs cardis but had trouble finding a dark navy to match their shoes. I really like the idea but would suggest you wait until the dresses are purchased. As a PP said, you may want something a bit more cropped, depending on the style of the dress.
