We were planning to write our own, until our minister gave us samples and we fell in love with this one:

In the presence of God, I, _______,

Take you, ______, to be my wife/husband,

To be made complete by you.

My vow is to stand at your side as your wife/husband

Even as you and I and the world around us will change.

My place will always be with you.

I will give to you selflessly

All that I have: my love, my loyalty, my honor, my life,

Today and forever after.

… it said everything we already wanted to say! 🙂

Fiance and I are writing our own vows too.. I’m kind of nervous that they’re too long, in fact I’m sure that they are, but another bee posted her vows a while back and they were similar in length to mine and they were beautiful.. I’ve also read my vows to my Maid/Matron of Honor, a Bridesmaid or Best Man and my mom, and all of them don’t think they’re too long either (read aloud they take about 1.5 min).. But I’ll post them, just because they’re like the complete contrast in length to most of the other vows I’ve seen, just in case that’s what your length is like.. I actually wrote them using Miss Jam’s guidelines and watching Panda Pez’s video, both of which I thought were beautiful.. Here they are:

“Armyhubby, when I first met you, I could’ve never imagined that we would end up here, in this moment. But after all we have been through, from reading class to our wedding day, I cannot dream of a more perfect and beautiful result of the incredible friendship and love that we have shared over the years.

You are my match in every way. You balance me, you challenge me, and you encourage me. You are my strength and comfort when I need it most, and you believe in me even when I find it hard to believe in myself. I love that you are so young at heart, and I love how you saved me from trying to grow up too fast. I love your independence and your stubbornness. I love the way you can make me laugh, and I know that growing old with you will be such an interesting and exciting journey. I love that you are not only the love of my life, but my best friend.

I promise to be corny every chance that I get, and to ask you to dance whenever I can. I also promise to laugh and agree with you when you tell me that I can’t dance. I promise to try to learn how to cook, and I promise you that everything will always remind me of you. I promise to be the best wife I can be and, when the time comes, the best mother I can be. I promise to always respect and support you, and to appreciate you for all that you are and for all that you inspire me to be. I will love you when it’s easy and when it’s hard, when you’re difficult and when I’m difficult. I promise to always trust in you and your love for me, and I will always be completely honest with and faithful to you. And most importantly, I promise to love you and cherish you with my whole heart and soul for all the days of my life. Pinky promise.

You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I am so incredibly proud of the man that you are, and I feel so blessed to have you in my life. I treasure all of the memories that we have shared, and I look forward to what the future has in store for us.

I love you so much Batman.”

I love you very much and I am so happy here today to finally become your wife.  I want to let you know that I understand that you are your own person with your own interests, desires, and needs, and I know that even though they are sometimes different they are no less important than my own.  I am promising to keep myself open to you, to let you in to my innermost fears, feelings, secrets and dreams.

Today I marry you, for richer, for poorer, for even poorer when I’ve been shopping a lot, in times of sickness and in times of health, in times of failure and in times of triumph, with all I have to give and all that I am.

I will always try to be understanding and have patience, regardless of what life would bring to us.  I want to grow old with you and I’m willing to face change as we both change as I take you now as my partner in life, my one true love and my husband, in the only way I know how — proudly from this day forward as long as we both shall live until death do us part.

sure, i shared mine in a thread before i went away for my wedding, but will copy them here:

MINE TO HIM:

Mr. Uinicorn,

Today is the happiest day of my life because I get to marry you. You are not only the man I love, but you are my best friend.  The best decision I ever made was letting you into my heart. Sometimes I think I must have dreamt you into existence, because you are everything I ever wanted in a husband.

Throughout these past five years, you have made my life better in so many ways. You take care of me without me having to ask, you support me in everything I do, you help me stay grounded when I feel I am going crazy, and of course, you cook the most amazing dinners!

With you in my life, I feel safe and secure. I feel loved and appreciated. I feel like no matter where we go or what we do, I know I will be happy because I will have you by my side.

I am so excited today and proud to become your wife. As your wife, I promise to support you, I promise to be faithful and loyal, I promise to learn how to cook, I promise to be a good mother to our children, and finally, I promise to love you unconditionally throughout the good and the bad not only for the rest of our lives, but for the rest of eternity, because I believe you are my soul mate.

HIS TO ME:

Dear PurpleUnicorn, my love, my friend, my sweety.  I love you so very much.

Our adventure started some time ago and when I look back at our time together, I am reminded of just how much we are meant to be together.  In fact, we are so good together that we are willing to die for one another. From the moose in Maine to the treacherous mountains of Colorado, nothing can stand between us.

When I consider the probability of finding someone as wonderful and as unique as you, I can only conclude that you are a miracle; even if we did meet in a statistics class. You are beautiful, smart, kind, ambitious, dedicated, patient, and understanding. You will be a wonderful wife, and some day, a great mother. I am very lucky to have you in my life.

As we continue our wonderful journey together I vow to love you and be there in good times and bad times. I pledge to be loyal and faithful and promise to protect, care and listen to you.  I look forward to growing old with you.

@armywife1029: Aww, we’re happy to have inspired your vows…they sound great! Especially: “I love that you are so young at heart, and I love how you saved me from trying to grow up too fast”

Don’t worry about the length, it’s perfect! Ours were actually a tad bit longer than you see in our trailer – they were edited down.

Time flies on your big day, cherish every moment…

Best of Luck!

@Panda Pez: Thank you!!! I was a bit nervous that they were super lengthy, but I feel like they’ll go by a lot faster than I imagine once the time comes.. And what your video did show of the vows and of the rest of your wedding was absolutely beautiful.. I loved how you added little personal touches to your vows along with the deeper promises.. I’d always wanted to include things like that in my vows, inside jokes between the two of us, but I thought it might be too risky.. Watching and listening to your vows convinced me that it would be perfect though, and knowing the way that Fiance is, I know that kind of format is right up his alley lol.. I also absolutely love the earrings you wore for your big day!! Mind if I ask where you got them??

@vabride2011:  I love that! We might use this as well as personal vows.
