If anybody falls under the above categories, just looking for some advice.
I currently study at a university in Scotland, and we have the option of taking a semester abroad. I’m thinking of going to Carleton Uni in Ottawa.
Sooo… I was wondering if anybody studies there, or lives there, and can give me some general advice?
Also, how would I get a Canadian bank account? Would I have to be in the country? And does anybody know if it would cost to transfer money from UK to Canada?

Honestly the best place to get these answers would probably be the International Students office at the school. I’m sure these are routine questions.

I live in Ottawa, but did not attend Carleton. That being said, I know the city rather well.
Ottawa is an amazing city, especially the downtown core and The Glebe. While Carleton University is not downtown, it is very close to the Glebe and a short busride from downtown. Ottawa University is downtown, and is more central to shopping and groceries. Another benefit to Carleton; it is close to the airport.
Banking, I really don’t know. Some of the large Canadian banks include: CIBC, Scotia Bank, and Royal Bank of Canada. I’m sure if you contact them they can give you some info.
As the previous poster said, contacting the International Students office of Carleton would be the way to go. Feel free to PM me with any more questions about the city.
