I had moonshadow carnations in my Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquets and they are really nice. They don’t have the traditional look of carnations with the jagged edges. I was using purple and they come in lot of pretty shades.

my bouquet was a mix of carnations and different kinds of roses. absolutely loved it <3

those carnation pics are beautiful.
i didn’t have any carnations. my florist does not like them for wedding b/c she thinks they are for funerals. just her opinion, NOT mine.
my husband’s grandfather in england used to grow carnations. my husband has a type of carnation named after him.

I didn’t have carnations but I really should have. It’s one of my only regrets from my wedding day 🙁
Go for it if you want it! they’re such a gorgeous flower to be in a bouquet. Eff the funeral schtick.

I’m using white carnations, green spider mums, and little blue orchids in my bouquet, the girls are getting just white and green. The boys are getting orchid bouts, as is the groom, and everyone else gets white carnations.
I didn’t much care about the flowers, I just didn’t want to spend a ton of money on stuff that will only die. So carnations fit the bill, because they’re fluffy and a lot of bang for the buck. I’m very happy with the mock ups I’ve seen so far, so I can’t complain 🙂

Yep I did! I wanted everything to mostly be white against my outdoor green backdrop & used white carnations 🙂

I’m so glad I read this I wanted green Gerberas and they don’t exist or we can’t get them here 🙁 I finaly found a florist who seems to take note of what I’m wanting and she suggested carnations and my immediate reaction was urgh there funeral flowers. I will defo be more open minded when I have my appointment on Sunday 🙂
PS: When I phone florsits, they say what’s the date I say September and their reply is: This year! Like I’m going to order them over a year in advance.

So excited thank you all for your post. Im glad I am not the only one who loves these! We decided to use them for our boquets. Carnations are so beautiful when they are bundles together! 🙂 I just ordered my flowers last saturday so you should be fine!

I absolutely love carnations. They were my mom’s favorite and she passed away when I was young, so they are a must in my bouquet to honor her and have her close to me. Plus, I just think they’re so pretty and ruffly, and that’s sort of my theme.

I really wanted peonies but they weren’t available and since we got married on Valentine’s Day and the price of roses was astronomical, I went with the texture of the carnations for the centerpieces.

Lots of people hate on the humble carnation, but as the pics above prove.. when they are done right- they are STUNNING!

Not gonna lie, I am usually one of the people who associate carnations with funnerals and cheap school assemblies to give to your mom. But WOW was I wrong. Those pictures you all posted look amazing! I think the thing is to make them look full enough, not with the spindly stems hanging out everywhere. I need a reason to decorate again because I want to use some of these pictures…

I love the inspiration pics on this thread! We want to use carnations in place of a lot of roses and peonies to get the price down. They are NOT funeral flowers!! They are just less expensive and hardier than the more typical bridal flowers, which I believe is because florists WANT to have you spend more on others. Carnations come in so many colors! Gorgeous.

I used 2 different shades of red carnations and also mini carnations. Oooooo…I just loved the smell of them!
