Hi there, I’m getting married at the Carnegie Institution on Saturday!  We are having both the ceremony and reception there, so fortunately we didn’t have to worry too much about transportation.  The large majority of our guests are out-of-towners, so we got two hotel blocks at hotels within walking distance from the venue.  This way guests can walk or take a short cab ride.  There is also a parking garage on P Street between 16th and 17th Streets, across from the park should anyone decide to drive.

Good luck with all of your planning!

We are getting married at Carnegie Institution next year and are so excited!  SandS417–can I ask which hotels you blocked rooms at?  We also have a large number of out-of-town guests and would like to find walking distance hotels to avoid the transportation issue.  We are thinking about Capitol Hilton, Washington Hilton and The Churchill but we are hoping to find rates less than $150/night.  Any advice?  Thanks so much and congrats on your recent nuptials!

I’ve done a bunch of Carnegie weddings, and the best solution – by far – is to call the P St parking garage, and coordinate a special evening rate for your wedding guests! Saves you money – since its free! And it saves your guests money! As for the best/closest hotels for your guests, that would definitely be Hotel Rouge and the Carlyle Suites – both great options!

Good luck!

We got married there in April and paid for our guests to park at the Colonial Parking garage about half a block away.  It was pretty easy and affordable — they gave us a sheet of stickers to “validate” the parking tickets and whatever stickers we didn’t use, we returned and were able to calculate the number of cars based on that.  It was a little difficult at first to get a hold of someone at Colonial Parking, so contact me if you need their information.

We booked a room block at the Doubletree, which is within walking distance, but I’m not sure many of guests actually walked.
