Has anybody had their carpets professionally cleaned? We have a carpet shampooer, but I want to have them done really well (i.e. professionally) before the baby gets here.
Did you have to move furniture out of rooms, or do the carpet cleaning people move furniture as needed?

@abbyful: Well, we are doing this today as our dog poopeed in the nursery on Wed. I’ll check back in once they leave and let you know how it goes! The company we’re using says they move the furniture for you so I just tidied up and hope that they will do the rest.

We were offered a professional cleaning when we renewed the lease at our apartment. I looked at the company site because I really wanted to do it, but you’re supposed to move everything for them, and…there’s not enough room in the kitchen/bathroom/deck to put all of our crap to get it off the carpet.

My parents get their whole house done every 12-18 months. The company they use moves furniture for them (but it seems to vary from comapny to company).

Most of them will move furniture but some of them don’t move electronic devices so make sure to call and check with them first.

Most companies will move something relatively easy to move, like a couch, but not a huge china hutch that is filled with stuff. And electronics are iffy, too. They don’t want that sort of liability, ya know?
