While I think that sounds amazing, I think that’s asking way too much, personally. Even though it may be cheaper than Miami or Vegas, it’s still a lot of money to spend on a bachelorette party. i love my friends dearly but if this is what was planned for their b party, I’d have to respectfully decline. The most I’ve ever spent on a friend’s bachelorette, even as a bridesmaid, is $150-200 and that was on the high end to me.  Are your bridesmaids paying for dresses, shoes, hair, shower, travel to the wedding etc? I’d definitely consider those expenses before suggesting a Caribbean bachelorette. Also consider if your girls have to travel for your wedding or take any time off for the rehearsal dinner, it might not be realistic to use so much vacation time on your wedding.  If the girls come up with the idea on their own, I think it would be fine but I think asking for something like that is putting a lot of pressure on them. Of course it would be amazing but keep in mind that the girls are likely paying for lots of other wedding things For you already. Just my opinion.

@Krises:  I’m with you.

Wouldnt you rather take those  days and add them to your honeymoon? Thats a full-on vacation, and, personally, I wouldnt want to go on vacation without Fiance, or if it was a girls trip, i’d rather it not be a bachelorette party. Then again, I kind of hate the idea of bachelorette parties anyway … so this takes it to another level for me.

@Stina11287:  I like the idea!  I actually thought about it, but Vegas turned out to be cheaper with the deals my Maid/Matron of Honor found.  If they can afford the cost upfront, it works out well, because all you have to pair for once you get there is tips, or spa stuff if you want to.  Even though getting to and staying in Vegas wasn’t too bad for us, we certainly spent some money while were there, so I think it balances out.

I’d check out CheapCaribbean.com – they have some great deals!

If you & all your girls can afford it & can take the time off work & everyone is 100% ok with the plans, then I say go for it! .. I would love to have been able to do something like this for my bachelorette party!  I’m jealous! 😀

Just my two cents… My best friend got married in July and had her bachelorette in Vegas the week prior. I pretended to be amped about it and said of coooourse I’d be there because I was the Maid/Matron of Honor. But I secretly thought it was insanely over the top and really selfish. I went and COULD afford it… But would I rather have spent that $1200 on something for myself or my boyfriend or our savings/future wedding/house? Absolutely. I love my best friend and she approached it the same way as you but I wouldn’t have wanted to miss out/look like a bad Maid/Matron of Honor which is the only reason I went. I am still pretty bitter about it if ya can’t tell haha : )

@Stina11287:  this is my dream! Unfortunately, ill be one of the last of my girlfriends to get married, and most of them have kids now…. So a few days away isn’t a possibility. With so many pregnant and nursing friends, I’m not even sure ill be able to pull off one crazy night.

I say if you can do it, do it! I’ve been to a few destination bachelorette parties, ad I never regretted them, I always had a great time and made great memories with my girls!

@Stina11287:  If you don’t mind, how much is this going to cost each of them? If it’s cheaper than a weekend in Vegas, maybe it’s doable for us for a honeymoon.

I guess I’m cheap, but for me, it’s a “No way in heck!” situation. I’ve got a $2,000 wedding budget, and I won’t be doing any other parties, particularly not ones people have to fork over big time to attend.

Then again, if your friends are all OK and even happy to do it, why ask us? Enjoy your vacation!
