We are doing blackberry cobbler ala mode for ours– I can’t eat most cakes, so we wanted to do something I could enjoy too!

Yes Yes YES YES to carrot cake! If we were doing cake at all (doing a dessert buffet instead), at least one layer would have been carrot. But definitely make sure the carrot cake lives up to your expectations by doing a tasting with your baker first – they vary quite a bit in recipe, and therefore taste.

I wanted to do carrot cake but our baker advised against it since the shelf-life is pretty short ๐Ÿ™

I haven’t selected cake yet, but carrot cake is my absolute favorite cake flavor in the world. I would love to be at a wedding and have carrot cake.

But – it is not everyone’s favorite so there will definitely be some guests who won’t touch it. You could maybe do one tier in carrot and the others in more common flavors?

Just for the sake of having another opinion from the opposite side of things ๐Ÿ™‚ – I hate carrot cake. Can’t stand it. One of my best friends did carrot cake for hers (not one layer of it, the whole thing) and I didn’t touch it! I would say do it (since YOU love it) but perhaps have an alternative for those who don’t love the flavor. It’s definitely an acquired taste (IMO). ๐Ÿ™‚

We had carrot cake…it was lovely! We had a full dessert buffet, though, but my aunt made an awesome carrot cake for us & saved the top layer for our 1 year anniversary ๐Ÿ™‚

I personally don’t like carrot cake but in general, I think it is a tricky cake to serve as it generally contains nuts and people may have nut allergies. I also think that recipes for carrot cake varies so much (vs red velvet or vanilla/white cake) that there can be really delicious carrot cake and really gross carrot cake. We are having carrot cake cake pops as part of our dessert bar bc Fiance loves carrot cake, but I wouldn’t consider having that as the only dessert option.

I think you should get it!  And, like the other PPS, have a different flavor just in case. We’re probably going to have carrot cake as one of the flavors for our cupcakes.
