@CourtneyB: I flew with my dress (& we added in my groom’s outfit too) with Airtran to Mexico. We ended up having 2 flights down, 1 to our families home state for a reception, then another 1 back home- so 4 flights total carring my dress around. We had zero issues whatsoever. The planes we were on did not have a closet so I just folded it in half & put it *on top* of other ppl’s luggage in the overhead bins. It wasn’t wrinkled or damaged after all that either. I was advised to use a plastic hangar to go through security & had an e-mail saved on my phone from a customer service rep giving me the okay to carry on my large garmet bag in case anyone said anything. They counted my garmet bag as my carryon so I was only allowed the one personal item.
Overall it was waay easier than I thought & I felt silly for stressing myself out about it. Had it not been able to go into the bin I would have folded it in half & put it under my seat, no way would I have checked it.

Great news. All flights let me early board and use the front closet or an entire carry on space above. 😀 Good luck to future bees traveling with their dresses!

I just collected my dress from pronovias, it’s huge. I don’t know what to do. I don’t know if they will allow me to carry it on the plane. I’m contemplating putting it in a suitcase and doing the wrap of the suitcase at the airport. I travel in the morning so I have little time to figure it out.

My dress was pretty full. A-line with 13 layers of tulle under the lace. It was huge and I had no problems. I aslo contemplated the suitcase but I couldn’t even find one large enough!

West jet didn’t have a first class closet to hang my dress. I was kinda bummed when I found out. I had to fold my bag in half and lay on top of others luggage in the overhead compartment – luckily my dress wasn’t too huge so I could do this. And it didn’t wrinkle too badly as it was lace, so we just let it hang for a few days in a closet out of the bag before the wedding and any minor wrinkle fell out on their own. I had a personal steamer on the day of in case I needed it, which I used for my veil, but the dress was ok.
