@vintage butterfly

I would check on the sizing with them! I actually measured for the same size that I wear in regular clothing!

Ladies,
Who have recieved your Casablanca gown -esp those with custom- were they made with extra fabric at the seams? So it’s possible to be let out?
I’m more concerned about future re-sellability than not being able to fit into the gown.

Casablanca 1974 is a cotender for me….w/o flower applique

http://www.casablancabridal.com/collections/view/27/334

it’s so much more beautiful in person…$720, but i won $100 off any dress in the shop at a local wedding festival so I’m shopping around before I make the decision

I hear good things about Casablanca as a whole =)

@vintagebutterfly – we have the same dress!  I wonder if Casablanca tends to run bigger than most bridal sizes.  I’m a size 8 in street clothes and after taking measurements they ordered me an 8 in the 1959.  (The sample was a 10 and was a bit loose).

Did you take any pics of yourself in it?  I would love to see how it looks on someone else.  You’re the first “dress twin” I’ve come across!

I ordered it in Diamond White (same as the sample in my pics).

To answer the questions in the original post, I paid $800 plus tax and they said it will take about 7 months to come in (ordered in Nov/estimated arrival in late June).

@prettyflowers- I havent seen anyone else with our dress either! I kept trying to see others in it but couldnt really find anyone but you!  I love the way it looks on you!  Beautiful!  I ordered mine in Ivory.

My dress cost $704 with tax and they said it would take about 3-4 months to get here.

@vintage – thanks for sharing your 1959 pics!  You look gorgeous in it!  Have you figured out a veil yet?  Also, do you think it needs an extra crinoline under it to “puff up” the skirt a bit, or do you think it looks full enough on its own?  I’m leaning toward a fingertip length cut edge veil (or maybe longer)… not sure yet on the crinoline issue.  I think the sample dress I tried on looked a little “flat” but of course the actual dress will be much fresher and not all crushed like the sample was.

I think Casablanca runs larger than other designers as well. I’m typically a 2-4 in regular clothing. But in Casablanca I was 6-8 because of my hips and waist.

@Mrs. Mernard,

I put a rush on my dress too so that it can get here late April/early May. For me it was $100 to rush it and it was totally worth it-even though I hated spending the extra $$-. That way you don’t have to worry about it one month before the wedding. There’ll be plenty to worry about. And alteration time too.

Girls with the 1959. I personally don’t think it needs more poof. Laughing It looks good on you girls!

@prettyflowers

I plan on wearing a birdcage veil with my dress.  And about the crinoline…im kinda up in the air about that too.  The first time i tried on the dress i didnt have anything under (the pictures shown) I did think that the dress was a little flat and wrinkly but i know thats from being in the bag stuck between tons of other dresses.  The second time i went to try it on (and ordered the dress) they decided to see what it looked like the crinoline skirt underneath it.  The lady that was helping me suggested that i wear something because when i walked the dress could go between my legs.  Well we took some pictures and sometimes it didnt look too much different and sometimes looking at it from a different angle it looked too poofy.  My mom said she likes it with the crinoline.  I have a friend who has some different sizes of the skirts and so im not planning on buying one and just borrowing hers if i decide to wear it.

@spazmorelda  YAY!  You are wearing the same dress I did and are actually one of the first people I’ve seen on here with the same dress!  I was having a lot of second thoughts but it was a hit at my wedding in October:)

I love Casablanca dresses!!!

I purchased the Casablanca Diamond Collection A001 at the Filene’s Basement Running of the Brides. No pictures of it available on their web site. It’s a strapless mermaid style with lots of lace, and was definitely not the style I thought I’d end up wearing. But I thought when else am I going to get to try on wedding dresses? Just just try it on to see. And to my surprise, it fit well and actually made me look and feel like a bride ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s a size 10, and normally I’m a street size 8-10, so I was very lucky that it fit. I got it for $500 and will need to shorten the skirt. I’m 5’1 and need to cut off a good 5 inches or so and wear 3 inch heels. I was quoted about $300-400 for alterations because it is lace and has beading/sequins. Luckily that is the only alteration, and even more lucky that my aunt used to own a bridal shop and can do the alterations for me!  Not sure how I’ll do the bustle.

@dchokiebride3 – thanks so much for posting your pictures. I picked up my dress tonight and love it.  Did you have problems with the pleats folding up?  They told me to stop touching it because the oils on my hands would make it dirty ๐Ÿ™‚  Did you have it hemmed?  Do you remember your alteration cost?  Thanks!!!

Hey! a couple of the pleats at the waist folded up during the reception but honestly, I really didn’t care (and normally I’m the type of person that that would drive nuts!)  I actually had to have it let down a little bit…about 1/4-1/2 an inch because I’m taller.  That’s the only alteration I had and I paid $50!  Not too bad, everyone loved the dress!!  ๐Ÿ™‚

I ordered Casablanca b028 in January and I can’t wait for it to get here! They said it should be here in May. Hopefully it comes early. I haven’t seen any pictures other than what’s on the Casablanca website so if anyone finds one please let me know! I’m dying to see another picture of it ๐Ÿ™‚
