I’ve found an 1831 sz 22 on ebay for a steal, but I wanted to know if these dresses run true to the size chart, or if they run a bit larger. My street size in jeans is an 18, but my waist is a bit on the large side. My other options include:
This dress from DB off the rack: (I’d change the straps from halter to sleeveless) http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=3721&prodgroup=159
This DaVinci 8252, which look SOOO much like the 1831: http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages/showimage.aspx?gid=540807&ppid=1122&image=83029763&images=79372930,83029763,83029773,83029873&formats=0,0,0,0&format=0

When I ordered my Casablanca gown, I ordered a size 10. I normally wore an 8 in "street sizes" at that time, and the sample 10 had a little room, so I went with it. I was afraid an 8 would be too tight on my chest.
I have now lost a little bit of weight and the 10 needs to be taken in maybe a bit more than it would have 6 months ago, but I think their sizing is pretty right-on, if not just a teensy bit on the small size. I think you will be fine with the size you have found!!

I wore a casablanca, and it was my size – I wear a 14, the dress was a 14. surprisingly….most dresses run small. Youshould be fine – that is still 2 sizes bigger, so it definitely shouldn’t be small. You arent’ planning on changing the casablanca to strapless, are you? Its a pretty deep v, isn’t it? Don’t take my word for it, definitely get measured somewhere that sells casablanca and see what size you shoudl be in, but I think it will be fine.

You can check your size against Casablanca’s size chart. Mine was right one!

I actually ordered a custom Casablanca dress and the top was the 1831 (the body was the 1881-I didn’t want strapless)
Anyway, my top is a street size 16 and I ordered a size 20 dress. I have a really large chest, so it fit that just fine, and just needed to be taken in at the waist and hip. So I think you will have plenty of room.
I agree that the casablanca size chart is pretty accurate.

Thanks for the advice ladies!!! with my waist being over 40" (thanks to my lovely gut thanks to pcos!) I may have to consider the davinci instead. I’ve emailed the seller to find out what her street size and measurements are since she looks slightly bigger and taller than me in her pic.

I’m definately not changing the 1831 straps, only the DB dress would get a strap change as I hate halter dresses and would rather it be a simple v-neck gown.
