Hi all. I’m curious what the current opinion is on cascade bouquets? I’m playing with the idea for myself but I’m on the fence. Are they a bit dated these days or are they making a comeback?

Personally I think they’re a bit dated, but I could see where if done correctly, they could be the next cool modern thing. I just haven’t seen that yet 🙂

What I’ve seen lately are a lot of loose bouquets. Kind of like you gathered a handful of flowers:

I’ve never really seen one, most of the pics I have seen of them are from older weddings so from my experience I’d say they are a bit dated. Not saying you couldn’t rock a modern version though!

I think it all depends on how they were done! I happen to love some, but avoid the more dated textures, such as ivy. I also agree with PP that its less about cascade, but more organic shapes in general. Here are some of my inspiration pictures (obviously some are more and then less cascade, but all have the same wild, just gathered look):

You do see them mostly in older weddings. But I think they can still be pretty!

Upon reflecting, to me the deciding factor of “coolness”/”modernity” is how long the cascade part is (i think less long = more modern), and how defined it is (i.e. a more organic, loose bouqet will make it less of the kinda more outdated cascade shape, and update it.
IF that even makes sense…

do what you like, but everything is dated…so in like twenty years there will be all these trendy things now that people are going to look at and be appalled by.

@Omgbunnies: I think they’re very out. For whatever reason, they totally remind me of mullets…
But some of the photos posted here are actually pretty! If you like them, find some good photos and show them to your florist! S/he should definitely be able to recreate!
