Any Cooking Buff Bees?
The Fiance and I just got a 12 piece set of All Clad and I’m really excited but I’m obsessed with cookng with our cast iron items. I almost hate the thought of ever cooking without cast iron.
So….What, in your experience, cooks better in all clad than cast iron or vice versa?
Anyone wanna give me their lists?
Cast Iron
AllClad
- Soups & Sauces
- Seared salmon or fish
- stir fry
Lemme here it bees!

@skippydarling: Omg so lucky to get an All Clad set! We have a non-stick Calphalon pieces that we inherited from my parents when they changed to All Clad coppercore, and I hear that cooking with that is a dream. I almost wish we were registering for our wedding so I could throw some All Clad pieces on there 😛
I have nothing else to contribute, but I’m interested in this as well! Fiance really wanted a cast iron pan from his family for Xmas and didn’t get it, so we will be going to William Sonoma this weekend to buy him one. He wants it to cook breakfast foods (eggs, bacon, sausages) and to brown english muffins.

@letigre: William Sonoma sells LODGE cast iron which you can get on Amazon for quite a few dollars cheaper!

I grew up on cast iron, and love cooking with it. As long as it’s seasoned and you dont wash it, it cooks everything.

@skippydarling: WOW! Thanks for that tip! I rarely look on Amazon for things like that because we’re in Canada, but it’s definitely cheaper on Amazon.ca than at W-S.

Yeah, there are definitely certain foods that cast iron works best for because you get that wonderful flavor built up over time. I like to use it for bacon, sausage, and other meats. I actually haven’t tried it for eggs. I’ll have to do that!
