I mistakenly voted zoo!  Sorry.  What I was going to say is that zoos can look a bit touristy. They tend to have a lot of other people around.

I didn’t vote because I need a bit more info before I can vote. What is your theme, colors or preferences?

I voted castle. I can’t stand the smell of animals and mixing that with food… ugh!

I’ve read this advice – you’ll remember how you FEEL on your wedding day, not how things look.

Close your eyes and imagine yourself walking into each location. Take everything into consideration, how the cost would be weighing on you the day of the wedding, if the drive would make your guests tired or late, the mood it would set for your FI, if the zoo would make you feel unique, etc.

Don’t think about the look, what kind of gut feel do you get when you imagine each of those settings?

Hey I grew up near marwell and it is an awesome zoo my family took my guy last summer, I know my mum has friends with daughters who got married there and she was super keen we look at it so huge positive there, but as a girl who is having her wedding in a castle in Scotland because it was the ‘perfect’ venue for both of us I’m torn. Essentially you spending a heck of a lot of money anyhow (regardless of budget weddings =£) go for what makes you happy, and it sounds to me like you love the  castle.

Zoo, but I wouldn’t do a bouncy castle.

After reading your post I would go with the zoo.  While the castle is really great sounding, it is a lot more expensive.  Think of how much more you could put towards a house instead of your wedding!

You just sound so much happier about the castle, that’s what I’d go with. Would you always regret not having it there? Honestly, a couple of thousand pounds is not something you’re going to miss much after the wedding if you have the beautiful day/memory you always imagined.

I chose zoo, but I wouldn’t hire a magician, bouncy castle, etc. because it is your wedding, not a 5 year old’s birthday party.

I voted Zoo but I just re-read your post. Is portaloo a word for a porta-potty, like a blue plastic booth? If so, I vote castle for that reason alone.

Just based on the portable toilets alone I’d veto the Zoo.  Yuck.
