Hello all, I am currently in the midst of planning my wedding for October, 2013, and my fiance and I are attempting to come to an agreement on his/his groomsmen’s attire. He is a very, very casual man (his idea of dressing up is “nice” jeans and sometimes a collared shirt, but usually just a t-shirt), which I like, because I’m not a fan of tuxes. But, I want him to be comfortable while not wearing a t-shirt and jeans to our wedding.
Some basic info about the wedding:
Ceremony will be outside in a park in the mountains of NC in October, late afternoon.
Colors are green (his) and purple (mine), and the theme is rustic
Also, he is a definite country boy — he ALWAYS wears a hat (baseball cap) and I like hats, but a baseball cap for a wedding is far too casual for my taste.
Any suggestions for casual attire/hats? Photos would be incredibly helpful 🙂

Oh how I remember this dilemma! lol My husband and your future hubby sound like 2 peas in a pod! Everyone tried to convice him to go with a suit/tux, “its just one day”, blah blah blah.
What they didn’t understand is that we wanted to keep it semi casual, and more than that, comfortable! Neither of us wanted anything traditional for our wedding anyway!
When Mr.A came home with the shirts I died (cried) and thought they were hideous BUT he and the guys had so much fun shopping together that it kind of became no big deal. (Who knew I would love them in the end!)
Here is a sample of our guys after the ceremony. They were ready to relax and be goofy as you can tell. lol If you would like to see more you can go to our Photobucket.

Our wedding is casual instead of doing ful tuxs the men are wearing dress pants, a long sleeve button up shirt, and a vest.

shirts, vests and pants-fedoras work for hats
the guys would look great in shirt suspenders and pants- add a vest for the groom
these guys are wearing newsboy caps-please no baseball caps

This is so funny! We are getting married on the same day, in NC, and have the same theme! Here is an idea I found and love

We want a casual groomsmen look also, but I am having the hardest time figuring out how to make it happen. We have 5 groomsmen, 3 ushers, 4 friends/brothers in the bridal party from my side, and my dad to think about dressing, so we can’t afford to purchase an entire outfit for everyone and we don’t want to have to ask them to pay us back. Also, if we bought everything, we wouldn’t be sure that it would all fit so we could end up shipping everything back and forth.
We live out of state from the wedding location, and all the men live in various places across the country. Our wedding is in our hometown, so we are not asking them to spend a lot of money on travel and hotel for a destination wedding, but they will be traveling and mostly staying at home with their parents or with other friends for the wedding day.
We could find items online, call to make sure the company has a lot in stock, send everyone the links, and try to hound the guts to purchase right away so they don’t go out of stock.
We could rent pants, shirts, and vests from Men’s Warehouse or Jos A Bank and just skip the tux jacket, but then they would still end up paying over $100 and not get to keep anything. Also, rental places don’t have a very good selection of vests either to rent or to buy, and we couldn’t pick a shirt with color, only white or ivory.
If anyone has suggestions for figuring out the logistics, please let me know!
