(Closed) casual outdoor mountain wedding – what’s appropriate?

I had to comment because this is exactly what we are doing.  We are getting married in TN at a resort in the Smoky Mountains.  We are renting a very large cabin which we are sharing with our close family (parents & sibblings) for the week, and after the ceremony our plan is to have our guests (approx 30) come back to the cabin for a buffet-style dinner.  (The resort does not have a reception space).  We will not really be having entertainment (like a DJ) but will have music playing in the background via I-Pod.  The view from the cabin is spectacular (as is yours!) and honestly we don’t want to do much to take away from that.

We are keeping things very casual, I have a knee-length wedding dress and Fiance will have a summer suit.  This is a second wedding for both of us and only our close family/friends will be there, so we didn’t see a need to make it very formal.  I am hoping that guests just eat, drink, mingle, and take in the view… We won’t have any formal dancing but if people want to turn up the music and dance, I guess they can!  I’m a little nervous because I’ve never been to a wedding exactly like this before, but i’m hoping it works out.

We are not having attendants, so we won’t be having a rehearsal dinner per se, but may have anyone who is there come over to our cabin for dinner the night before.  We will be spending the week in TN, and we are hoping other family members will make a vacation out of it too.  But I would say that if you are not having attendants, a rehearsal dinner would not be neccessary.  But maybe meeting out of town guests for dinner the night before or doing a group hike or other activity the day before the wedding might be nice.

Anyway, I think your ideas sound great, and it is nice to see someone else doing something similar to what we are planning.  You guys picked a BEAUTIFUL site, please post pics after!! Laughing

Please please tell me where this is!  I’m in NC and we love the mountains.  I’m getting cold feet on the larger-than-small modern venue we’re considering.  I’ve been searching all along for a mountain venue but keep coming up short.

Thanks for your help!
