Just trying to be helpful: I’m not sure but I think you have to do something other than write Closed to close your post as…. We can still comment on it.

Ms. Horseradish has it nailed in her comment. It’s a public forum and the Internet can be an unruly place.. You won’t always get the responses you want. There are some valid suggestions wrapped up in some of the judgemental comments, that could be worth your time when you’ve had a breather.

Whateve you decide, hope your cat is ok.

Call your vet and see what they recommend. If they recommend that you come in for tests and you truly can’t afford it, you need to surrender your cat to a no-kill shelter so it can get proper medical care.

I can’t believe the number of posts I’ve seen on this forum of people who adopt animals and can’t properly care for them. Dogs with fleas that the owners won’t pay to treat, pets with broken bones, cats that swallow string. I understand that everyone falls on hard times, but your pets shouldn’t have to suffer for it.

You may also want to check out a local or regional veterinary school  hospital, rather than a private office.  Sometimes they will take cases on a sliding scale basis.

Yeah… Saying a thread is closed doesn’t make it closed. Just like telling someone what not to say,  doesn’t  mean that they won’t say it.

Having one financial responsibility doesn’t mean you get to shirk others. And you have a responsibility to your cat. You decided to get the cat – you need to do something to help it.

If you’re happy to let a living, breathing, feeling creature possibly end up dying in pain, because suddenly its a financial burden, then you need to take a long hard look at yourself. And no, it doesn’t make me an asshole just because I don’t like the idea of animals suffering.
