LMAO!  Well, if it takes him that long to get through it every time, the cats should have time to get to a suitable height for escape if need be.  But I would put him in a time-out in a seperate room for a minute or two any time he tries to chase the cats.  And if he goes near the cat door, try interrupting him with a loud noise such as “NO!” or “AH!” or even banging a pan with a spoon so he gets the point that he should avoid the cat door.

Haha….I love it!  Thanks for sharing!  We thought about getting a cat door for the very same reason (to keep the dog out of the cat food) but I just know my little beagle will figure it out.
