It’s normal silly cat behavior.  We bought ours a water fountain, which they love. Still, the water in my or hubby’s glass is so much more tempting…

While you don’t want her to drink crazy amounts of water, you also need to make sure she drinks enough. Cats are prone to kidney diseases and drinking enough water can help prevent that.

Cat’s are something else, aren’t they? πŸ™‚  If you want to learn more about ‘cat language and lifestyle’, check out “My Cat From Hell” on Animal Planet. We learned so much watching that show!

Oh my god. All of the sudden we are dealing with this same thing. My cat is 10 and has just taken up drinking out of the toilet (awesome), the kitchen sink, the tub. Everywhere. It’s to the point that when I get up in the morning he’s already sitting on the bathroom sink waiting — meowing! loudly! — for me to turn it on. Same thing when it’s time to wash up at night. It so bizzare. We now have two bowls out for him, glass and ceramic, and they appear to be nothing more to him than places to drop Q-tips (his other obsession).

On the other hand, now that our gato is getting up in years, he rarely has the “witching hour” and doesn’t run around like a manic at 11 p.m. anymore. I miss it and it reminds me he’s not as spry as he used to be.

A friend of mine has a water fountain as well… she says it works wonders.  I think it was a bit on the pricey side, but I’ve been feeding her cats when she’s out of town for the past 3 years and the thing still works, so it must have been worth the investment.

Sounds normal πŸ™‚ My cat would jump in the shower if I let her. She’s just a silly cat. I think most cats have a lot more personality than people think. She meets me at the door, jumps up on me so I will hold her and snuggles like a teddy bear when it’s time to go to bed. And the running thing? Mine does it too. She also has this weird thing about our laptop, whenever we open it she freaks out and runs to the window like somethings going to happen. Just the little joys of being a cat owner πŸ™‚

@AprilJo2011:  I LOVE that show!! We have learned a lot about our cat watching that show, and have built cat shelves and are in the middle of making a cat walk along the top of the wall in the living room becaue of that show. We also watch Its Me or the Dog to learn about the dogs

My cat does this too. Any water containing vessel except his bowl. Sometimes he sticks his head into a glass of beer only to realize it doesn’t taste so good.

@Balboa:  Q-tips? Hahaha, that’s funny! I would love to know what he does with those.

One of my cats drinks from the toilet!  He also meets us at the door and sleeps at your feet.  He’s having an identity crisis!

The other cat hops in the tub and meows until you turn the faucet on so she can drink from the faucet.

Cats are weird!

ETA:  They both LOVE ice cream!  We can never set our bowls down.

I vote normal silly cat behavior.

Because everyone knows the best water not only comes straight from the tap, but also takes a detour over your head on its way to your mouth.

@Bichon Frise:  It’s half adorable, half infuriating. It’s adorable to see him strutting proudly with one hanging out of his mouth on the way to the water bowl*. It’s less adorable to come home and have to fish 7 dirty ones out of the water bowl. It is infurating to walk into the bathroom five times a day and find trash strewn everywhere, since that’s where he hunts for them. There have also been a few incidents of him getting into the main stash, resulting in slightly less than 400-ish brand new Q-tips all over the floor. Wheeeee!

*The water bowl is where he drops his “kills.” There was one day when I spend about 7 seconds being 99 percent sure that there was a dead rat in his waterbowl. It was a toy.

My cats refuse to drink from a bowl. Instead, I got a water pitcher from Ikea, put it next to their food bowls and they drink from that. Silly cats.

@MrsSl82be:  We learned that they hate being held like babies.  One of ours hates being held, period.  But he tolerates it as long as you hold him as if he sits on your arms. It also explained why they always try to get on the highest shelves and cabinets.

I will check out “It’s Me or the Dog”! Hubby desparately wants a puppy.
