We have been doing some research as well, definatly not done, but we still have some time.  We have been finding for that amount of guests(about the same as what we are having), with everything plus the kitchen sink included, to be around 7500 to 1100.

I hate the numbers and I am so jelous of bees who live in other states and don’t have jacked up catering prices.

If you’re still looking around, I got married nearby in Washington. I have a spreadsheet with caterers and pricing.

We went with Connecticut Caterers / Saltwater Grill in Litchfield — which I do NOT recommend and really regret — but I have dozens of others in the area we looked into.

Wanted to add an update with my past post.  We went with Emily’s Catering, they are based in Bristol.  We have not had our wedding, we are having our tasting in a few weeks, cross our fingers they are good.

So far though, they have been amazing!  From our first contact with them, they knew exactly what we wanted, and didn’t try to presure us to get things we didn’t want.  Every other caterer we went to made me feel like an idiot for not wanting passed h’ors devores.  Emily’s on the other hand, got it.  They were like cool, save money at the beggining, have more desserts!  Thats what we wanted to hear.

I’ll update again after our tasting with them!

David Alan is AMAZING and will really work with your budget, whatever it is. His wife Meaghan is really straight forward about costs. He does anything from backyard BBQ’s to extravagant 6+ course meals. Bonus: Gordon Ramsey hired David Alan to cook for his crew when they were in CT, so he must be doing something right!

Update after our tasting!!!!

AMAZING!!!  We loved everything.  There were dishes with ingrediants I would never eat, and they were amazing.  Loved everything.  I am soooo happy!  Can’t wait for our wedding day.

I would absolutely recommend Emily’s to anyone!

@Candycane:  So update us!  How was the actual wedding? Did you actually get to eat food at your own reception? The internet gives mixed reviews of the service by Emily’s.  Did you have any issues with the service?  I was looking at putting her on my list since she has catered at one of our ‘potential’ venues, the New England Carousel Museum.

tanyaaabee:  If you still have this spreadsheet, I would greatly appreciate having a look at it.  Since I haven’t heard back from my 1st choice in venue, i’m ready start making in roads on our second choice, which would allow for outside catering.
