amm6257:  That sounds like a steal to me! I’m in Boston and that would be unheard of in the city (and probably even in the suburbs too….)

amm6257:  I suspect this is food and open bar ONLY. So doesn’t include the staff, linens, plates, etc? As a gauge my venue is owned by a catering company with food only through them as well. Our FOOD (2 passed appetizers, buffet with salad, 2 protiens, 3 sides, and cornbread) was $30. We did consumption, but their open bar packages ranged from $18 for wine/beer up to $36 pp for luxury tier for 4 hours. Again, chefs, servers, linens, silverware, was SEPERATE from the quoted food price and bar package had we done that. Our “Staffing & Rental” portion of our contract was 1/2 of the total price, the other 1/2 being “Catering & Bar” which was just the pure food and drink ONLY.

Now if $60 pp goes beyond just the FOOD and DRINK, that’s a steal. If that’s just food and drink itself, it’s ok. You might want to ask what the pricing is with a modified bar.

Edit: Saw your updates, if this is all inclusive….STEAL. All the places I looked locally even the golf course venues that are typically more affordable around here (which wasn’t the vibe I wanted) started at least $80-$90 pp for reception portion which encompassed cocktail hour, maybe an ok beer/wine bar, food, tables, chairs, basic linens, and staff.

60$ for food and open bar is an outrageously good deal.

amm6257:  Bee have you shopped around for prices in your area?

That would be the best way to know if it’s a good deal for you.

I guess it would depend on the area and the food. I don’t think it’s that bad considering all you are getting. I mean if you went to a bit nicer restaurant today (say $20+ for the main meal) and ordered a appetizer, entree, and dessert while drinking as much as you wanted for 4 hours, that wouldn’t be that bad of a deal.

I would think food alone would cost about $30 to be catered, without any alcohol so don’t think you’ll going to find too many vinues for the price you’re looking for…unless you’ll looking to just serve something like BBQ.

We are paying significantly more, so to me I think you’ve found quite a steal! Of course it depends where you are, smaller towns will change less than major cities. Personally, I’m in a fairly large city.

amm6257:  Ok, having seen your updates, I’ve changed my mind. With everything that’s included (how did I miss that cake was included?!) I think you’re getting a great deal.

I would pay extra for the additional entree options, but you’re STILL getting a great deal if it includes all of your servers, linens, tableware, full open bar, appetizers, cake, etc.

It’s all about where you live. Here in LA our catering for 65 people is $4900. Which includes the linen, bartenders, clean up, set up, break down, dessert table, servers, etc. We’re providing the liquor, which is being gifted to us by a family member who works at a winery.

Our venue fee on a THURSDAY is $3200.

So you definitely have a great deal on your hand!

Sounds like a really good deal to me, with an open bar and cake included.

I think that sounds like a good deal if you live in a medium to large sized city. Especially if it’s all linens etc. included. Have you done comparative pricing? Because I would doubt you would find something much better.

amm6257:   My venue is outside of St louis (at a winery) and we’re paying $45/person for a buffet  (2 entrees 2 sides salad rolls & dessert  plus open bar with just beer & wine plus a signature wine spritzer). Plus $1500 for venue.
