Ist sooooo variable that it wouldnt help much if we told you.

Depends on

1) type of food

2) number of courses

3) appetizers? passed or stationary

4) seated or buffet or stations

5) region (state, city, suburb, etc)

6) time of year

7) time of day

8) the caterer you choose (the same menu can cost you different prices at different caterers)

9) whats included? tips, plate rentals? servers?

10) does it include cake service

@Jamcnair:   exactly.

Have in mind what you want in a general sense (buffet, sit down, appetizers etc). Have a budget in mind, but dont tell them what it is yet. (think per person)

They may have packages they can send you or they may put together a menu based on your wants and needs and then you can negotiate price.

Be sure to get all details from them too such as what is included (coffee, taxes, plates, silverware etc)

Ask them what an average wedding costs with them per person. Some only play in certain ranges so you know if they say $120 pp and you are thinking $65, then you shouldnt waste your time.

Also, ask your venue who has worked there before and start with them.
