You might want to check with your church to see if they have a preferred way of doing this.  Our priest said that the groom is usually standing up at the altar by himself when the processional begins (i.e. before the priest goes out or anything).  We didn’t really want to do that, so instead we had my husband be walked to altar by his mom and dad last in the processional, right before I went down the aisle with my mom and dad.  Some chrurches make you do exactly what they want, but others (like ours) are more flexible and let you decide how it should go.

Yeah, I think typically the groom, best man, and perhaps the other groomsmen (depending on how you want it) come in from the side before the processional.  Although we never questioned that, and were fine with it, I would think if you wanted to do something different than that, that would be OK.  But just a guess.

Most weddings I’ve been to have been Catholic and in most cases the groom and at least the best man (but often also the rest of the groomsmen) come from the back of the church (the Sacristy where the priest prepares for Mass or another space behind the altar) just before the procession starts.  They usually come out in an orderly fashion and in the order in which they are going to stand for the ceremony (or the groomsmen can go into their pew while the best man and groom stand up front). The best man and groomsmen take their place beside the groom and he waits (patiently!) for the procession of the bridal party and finally the bride.  Sometimes the priest walks out with the guys (leading them – either out of necessity or as a kind gesture) and sometimes the priest has made his way onto the altar on his own and the groom and co. have made their way to the front of the altar to await the bride.

Personally this will be my favorite moment in our wedding I think! Cannot wait!
Hope this helps!

I think it depends on the church and your preferences. I’ve seen a lot where the groom and groomsmen file out behind the priest. I’ve also seen a lot lately where the groomsmen meet the bridesmaids halfway up the aisle and escort them down.

Most of the time they walk down the side prior to the processional.
