Has anyone had (or planning to have) a catholic wedding overseas? What was your experience? Im from the UK and want to have a catholic wedding in Italy. We want somewhere where we can have the ceremony in Elnglish and have the civil part at the same time as the religious ceremony – we know places in Italy where this is possible. IN most countries it seems that you have to have a separate civil ceremony before or after the religious one. We have contacted our local priest and asked for his help, and are crossing our fingers that it will be possible.

Hi Suz123! I’m planning a Catholic wedding in Cortona, Italy for this October and it will be in English as well as include the civil wedding. Our planner has been super helpful and provides us with a step by step guide of what we need to do including all the documents you need for the ceremony and puts you in contact with someone who will take care of getting the paperwork together for the civil part. The only problem I had with the church was that I made the mistake of picking up the package of required documents from my parish and sending them myself via FedEx ( I wanted to make sure they got there) and apparently they disapprove of that and they need to be sent directly by your parish.
