looking for a catholic priest that will marry us in a different location not the church
to many rules.. cant have flowers,no candles, no runners,…pretty much you cant decorate the church for your own wedding…that sucks…and to have a church wedding it would cost like
$ 800.00 thats not exceptable

I didn’t think a Catholic priest would marry you outside of the church. My girlfriend had a similar issue and she couldn’t find anyone to do it. They pretty much said that a marriage will not be recognized by the Catholic church unless it occurs in the church.
Sorry! I’m not Catholic, so I am basing this fully off of her experience. Maybe she just didn’t look hard enough?

If you are going to have a Catholic ceremony, it cannot be performed outside of a church. Why would it cost $800? Most churches I know of ask for a “donation” which is usually only around $100.

The Catholic Church does not recognized any wedding performed outside of a Church. As far as decorations go, we had flowers, runner etc (no candles, but we never asked if it was allowed). Our donation was free (no set amount) but I know some churches ask for a minimum fee. We left enough to pay for the ppl that opened the church, prepared the stuff and cleaned it after the wedding, for the priest, to cover electricity cost etc, and to make sure there was enough extra for a donation.
Maybe you can look for another Catholic church in your area?

I had the same problem. Solution? We’re getting married by the catholic church first in a “private mass” a week before my actual wedding w/friends & family. The following week, the day of my wedding ceremony/reception, the priest will then go and provide what he calls a “blessing” for us (speedy 30 min or less) in front of all family & friends. This way, mom is happy w/church wedding and so are the bride & groom b/c they still get their outdoor wedding w/a spiritual element to it.
