You definitely don’t have to have programs, but I personally think it’s nice.  I’m Catholic and I always like have a program to look through even though I know how Mass goes.

We did programs for our wedding (had a full Mass).  We included the parts of the Mass, psalms, hymns, readings, the members of the wedding party, the priest, the musician, a thank you for everyone for coming, and a word search.

Anyone who isn’t Catholic will not have any clue what is happening if you dont have programs.

We didn’t do programs but we also didn’t have a communion during mass.  I would have done programs if we had communion so non-Catholics had something to refer to during mass.

@lovelylight99:  We are having a catholic mass too and I am not wasting my time and money to print out programs. I know when I go to weddings I maybe look at it for a couple seconds and put it down on the pew.

@lovelylight99:  They don’t have to be anything fancy.  I printed mine on cardstock at Staples for $120 for 150-175 programs.  But I’ve also been to several ceremonies where the programs are printed on computer paper and folded together like a book.

@crayfish:  +1

Also, doesn’t your church require them? Mine does…I guess so people aren’t lost.

I always appreciate programs. I wasn’t thrilled about the extra expense either, but I was able to design simple ones and get them printed through catprint.com… 4 pages x 100 programs for about $60?

We had programs, I did them myself, and I had over half left over! So while I thought it was nice to have, and some guests took them, I wonder if it was worth it. No one commented on the programs at all, either. Hmph.

@lovelylight99:  I am however, doing this…

I already had the frame and the board, I just spray painted the chalkboard paint on the board.
