- Wedding: August 2015
I am starting to try and plan some of the logistics for the reception timeline since the months before the wedding I will be way to busy finishing school and working my summer job.
We are having a Catholic wedding at 2pm and the reception venue is located approximatley 7 miles away from the church. So not too far of a drive for the out of town guests. The ceremony should be over around 3pm.
Right now, we’re thinking we’ll have the recpetion hall open at 4pm. We are not doing a real cocktail hour. The bar will be open, but we are planing on having the bridal party arrive at 4:30pm. My question is what kind of timeline works best for this situation? I’ve been looking and most posts I’ve found here dealt with later in the evening receptions. Since this is closer to dinner time, what would work best? We are doing a buffet style meal, and the DJ will be playing music once guests are arriving.
Right now I’m thinking:
Guests Enter 4p
Wedding Party enters 4:30p
And from there I keep flip flopping on if the first dance should happen here or after the buffet is open? And where in the world to stick the cake cutting as well.
Suggestions are more than welcome!
