I’m getting married in a Catholic church. I would love to wear a cathedral length mantilla veil; however, would this be weird since we will be sitting/kneeling during the ceremony? I’m not sure what I would do with the veil? I wouldn’t want to sit on it?

@everyonelovespandas: I never really thought about this! I still didn’t get my veil, but I know I want either a floor length or cathedral length. I would think that you could scoop it a little off to the side when you are sittting down, just enough not to sit on it or pull on it but not enough where it will be all bunched up. I think that kneeling shouldn’t be a problem, just watch so you don’t step on it when you get back up or turn. Congrats and good luck! 🙂

Are you doing the full Mass? I don’t think the bride and groom usually sit for the shorter ceremony.

I had to look back at our pics because I didn’t really think about it at the time. Looks like I sat on mine and sort of bunched it up a little so it didn’t pull on my hair. It was cathedral length….

I shifted mine off to the side while sitting down. It was fine!
If you have a cathedral-length veil, even if you do sit on part of it and crush it a bit, when you stand up and start walking the weight of it will pull it straight. Nothing to worry about.

@padme: We’re not doing the full mass (no communion), but our priest told us that it would still run about 40 minutes. I’m not sure I can stand for that long!
I knew I was overthinking this… haha. Thanks, all!

@everyonelovespandas: You will be asked to sit during the readings, whether it’s a full Mass or not.

I put mine to the side, and it was just fine. I’d post a pic, but I don’t have them at work. It actually looks really pretty when kneeling, just ask your Maid/Matron of Honor to adjust it and the train.

I moved mine to the side. We sat during readings and knelt from the prayer after they brought the gifts forward until the Great Amen, so you may want your Maid/Matron of Honor or fiance’ to be aware of where your veil falls vs. shoes. 😉
