Ugh, SO sorry for your phone cord!  Good thing they’re cute, right??  Ok, so there are a couple of things you can try.  Some cats really hate citrus, so you can try rubbing the cord with an orange peel, or spraying it with some sort of citrus spray.  My cat hates dryer sheets, so you could try wrapping the cord in those.  Also, pet stores have a spray called “cat boundary spray.”  It really worked for us when we needed to keep our cat off and out of our poor Christmas tree.  Just spray it on and around the cord and the cat should stay away.  But all cats are different, so you may have to try a few things.  Let me know if none of those work and I might have some more suggestions for you!  Love the picture by the way–they look like my little baby!

Can you plug it in somewhere where they can’t reach it?  Like a bathroom shelf or something….?

See, they chew, and you want to be mad, but then they look at you like “durh I am a cat don’t you want to scratch my ears?” and you can’t be but so mad at them.

It’s all part of their nefarious plan…

My pet rabbit LOVES the cords to all things Apple.  It’s something about the skinny cord.  He has eaten through more laptop power cords than I can count.  Of course the MacBook power cord costs clost to $100 to replace.  What can I say?  The bunny has discerning tastes.

My cats chew on cords too. My I-pod charger, phone charger, any charger really! Naughty kitties! How can something so cute do so many naughty things?

It’s like Apple infuses them with catnip or something…. Our cats love our white power cords too– not to mention earbuds!!

(note the teeth puncture marks!!)

I agree with the citrus oil– my cats hate the smell.  Lavender works for me too!

Look at them… sleeping like little angels… what a sham!!  Innocent

apple bitter spray ftw. non-toxic and doesn’t hurt them, it just tastes horrible. we spray it on our cords, on our christmas tree, lots of stuff. and my cat doesn’t just chew on stuff – she actually eats it. so it’s super important for us to keep her away from things that can hurt her.

I charge my iphone before bed time and make sure I am in the room while the phone is charging (usually the living room or spare bedroom). Otherwise, my cats WILL eat the cord. Once my phone is done charging, I unplug it and put it in my night stand drawer.

The problem is real! The coating/covering on most electrical cords is soy based which most animals find irresistible. Ever had a mouse/squirrel/rabbit chew your engine wires? Same premise.

Apple biiter works wonders!!

My cat loved to chew on any cords that were of the thinner variety! Sooooo frustrating. The number of mac chargers we went through over the years was insane. We never figured out how to stop her from doing it 😕 You could look into getting one of those cord covers or get the cord that is covered in that fabric type stuff.
