I had a fitbit alta and it was awesome but I wanted one I could wear swimming so I upgraded to a charge 3 and hooley dooley it was problem plagued from the second month in. I had it replaced twice and had the same issues with the replacements. I ended up getting a refund.

In my extensive time on the fitbit community trying to solve my various issues and in researching a replacement model (which was offered before the refund) I noticed the versa had lots of issues as well.

I have gone back to my alta during the pandemic but will replace with either an apple or garmen or a specific heart rate monitor watch (which is what I wanted it for) when it is safe to go shopping again. I like to try the weight of the watch on my wrist before buying.

The fitbit customer service was a bit of a joke as well. They told me I couldn’t get a refund but I knew I could as they had been issued a court ruling against them in my country over their refund policy. But they still insisted I was wrong. In the end I returned it to the retailer I purchased from rather than fitbit.

i have the fitbit versa 2 and love it.  i wear it everyday.  it is significantly lighter than my garmin 310xt.  it is water proof and counts laps when i swim. (my finger lap counter broke so this is great to have).

the only downside is that it doesn’t have gps, that would have been signficantly more $$.  so i need to bring my phone with me on runs and bikes.  otherwise, i would need to have my garmin, which i said is heavy.

i also love that i can see text messages and phone calls without having my phone on me. if my phone is in the other room, and someone calls, if i don’t want to answer it, i don’t have to run to find my phone to see who is calling. or i can see a quick text without being in the same room as my phone.

also it has some storage capacity for music. i have some exercise playlists on my watch.

so to me it is much more than a glorified pedometer.

I love my Charge 3 – it’s a great motivator, and I enjoy doing the challenges with friends. I don’t track my food, but I pay attention to my sleep cycles and exercise goals.
