Once it gets to the point of a root canal, there isn’t much that can be done. Are there any emergency dentists in your area?

I hope he feels better soon.  If he gets to the point of needing a root canal, look for an endodontist.  They are the only doctors you should go to for a root canal!

heat a tea bag in hot water, let it cool a little bit (but as warm as he can stand) and put it on the gum where the toothache is. let it sit on there for a bit. it might give a little bit of relief. When I have toothaches, I also rinse with warm salt water. It might not be a quick fix, but if you do it a lot it could give some relief. Ibuprofen works best for the swelling and pain.

Glad to know he is doing okay.  Does he need to get his other wisdom teeth removed?
