My and my bf (soon to be fiance…eeek!) bought an MoCo H&A ring in October. I am so happy with my ring….but I’ve just seen this post on MoCo’s instagram:
I’m not sure if the link will work, but it says they will be replacing round brilliant cuts with the new F1 H&A made by C&C.
When we ordered our ring I asked Chris at MoCo whether C&C would release any more F1 H&As (because they did release some last year but they had issues with black dots in the center) – he said they would not be making any more. 3 months on and C&C have released them! I’m so confused – are these physically any different from the H&As MoCo had on their website before, made by a different manufacturer?
Is ‘Forever One’ just the brand name now? I thought the F1 could never be a H&A because it was cut in a way to optimise the fire and brilliance of the moissanite. Hearts and Arrows is not the ideal cut for mossanite because it doesnt optimise these so could never be the same as an F1…?
I’d be really dissapointed if the C&C H&A’s have more sparkle/better specs than the MoCo one that we have. If we’d known C&C would be releasing these we would’ve held off ordering our ring.
I’ve emailed Chris at MoCo, but wanted to see if any of you bees could shed any light on this?

missd2016 : Interesting!!! Maybe C&C fixed the black dot issue??
Forever One is C&C’s brand of 4H SiC, the H&As MoCo has been selling recently are also 4H SiC, but are not procured by C&C, therefore are not Forever One.
Personally while these are pretty they look too sparkly to me, I’m glad I went with the non-F1 option.

DonutGirl33 : Yeah that’s why I thought C&C wouldn’t release any more H&As, because of the black dot issue – but they must’ve fixed it.
I’m interested to see what Chris at MoCo will say – but I can’t imagine there being a whole lot of difference between the MoCo H&A and the new C&C one. It certainly wouldn’t be worth sending my ring back for a C&C stone

Forever One was the name they were using for the colourless DEF coloured moissanite. Forever Brilliant was the name they were using for near colourless moissanite in GHI range. Now C&C has changed the names to Forever One Colourless (DEF), and Forever One Near Colourless (GHI).
Hearts and Arrows cut is the same cut used for a perfect round diamond. I don’t know the exact dimensions, but they’re treating the moissanite as if it was a diamond with the same cut they would use on a diamond. It’s not the optimal cut for a moissanite – but it’s going to look more like a diamond
It seems they’re going out of the old optimal moissanite cut because it was too sparkly and people thought it looked too much like a ‘disco ball’. I personally don’t think so – I figure if you should use the optimal cut for each individual gem – but I guess with H&A cut more people will like it because it’s closer in look to a diamond.

They said the same thing about F1 emerald cut (none coming ever!) when my now Fiance ordered my near-colorless non-c&c emerald… And bam, there they are on instagram a few months later. I think they get the news from CC as soon as it comes, but honestly, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Your stone is just as beautiful, I’m sure! I think the F1 material (that specific type of silicon carbide) can be cut all sorts of ways and that “Forever One” is just a brand name cut specifically by C&C. I love my emerald cut, and if I ever feel like I want an upgrade maybe I’ll order a loose stone and compare, but I don’t see that happening any time soon!
There will always be something bigger and better coming down the line, and you can always upgrade your center stone later if it truly bothers you! For now, love your ring!

I actually emailed them and they said there is no difference between the stones. It’s just going to be C&C’s new “standard” cut instead of the round brilliant. But who knows if that’s honest, I agree the F1 h&a looks a bit sparklier

ElephantAndTheFlea : Thank you! That’s what I needed to hear. I do love my ring (and i’ll love it even more when it’s actually on my finger!) so i shouldn’t be worrying about ‘the next best thing’.
bklyn18 : I emailed them too and here’s what they said:
“They are the same quality as the H&A Moissanites we currently offer. The development was because the cut of the round brilliant cut Moissanite from C&C has become nearly garbage at this point. We had so many returns to C&C they finally relented and agreed last month to do H&A for us. Therefore the release of F1 H&A is NOT to improve the H&A Moissanites we currently offer but as a replacement for the traditional round brilliant cut because we can’t obtain decent quality cuts from C&C anymore.
I can’t send you a lab report because they haven’t been done, and they may not be done at all. We are still deciding whether or not its necessary. We did do reports on the H&A moissanites that we had 1.5 years ago and the cut and the optical properties were identical to the H&A Moissanites we offer now.“
They’ve now taken their posts about the new C&C Forever One down from their instagram!! They had 2 posts about it. The first was introducing them and the second was a video of it beside a standard Forever One. That’s strange…why do you think they might’ve deleted it? Perhaps too many quesions from people like me!

I emailed them on Friday asking them if they will be stocking both H&A’s (the previous one and the new C&C one) and asked them why the took their instagram posts down. Chris hasn’t responded yet. Has anyone else found out any more info?

I’m in the same boat! I sent my ring in though to get the claw prongs I asked for that weren’t done so I asked them to change out my stone too. Interesting that they deleted their instagram posts…

bettylawlz : did they say they would swap the stone out? I haven’t had a response from them, which is really disappointing considering how great their communication was before this point!

UPDATE: I’ve just had an email from MoCo. I asked Chris if he could respond to my queries regarding whether they would be selling both their current version of the H&A and the C&C version, the differences in warranty (if any), and why they had removed the posts from their instagram.
“Unfortunately, no, I am not able to at this time as decisions haven’t been made yet concerning them.“
So it looks as though something is going on behind the scenes. Perhaps the batch they’ve recieved from C&C isn’t up to standard? From what I remember from their original instagram post, C&C had sent them quite a few. Maybe some had the fish-eye problem again?
bettylawlz : please do let us know if you hear anything from them!

I wonder if the small F1’s used for side stones and bands will also be changed to Hearts and arrows cut. I love the round brilliant F1’s in my band, since their so small you can’t see the splintery flat cut that much. but It would be awesome to have them replaced with the hearts and arrows F1’s to match the cut of my center stone 😍 That is if they’re available in 3mm. The smallest the non brand hearts and arrows come is 4mm or else I would have gotten them.

They said they would though there is no real difference in the two stones except the c&c warranty card. I think they were willing to swap out the stones because I had purchased my ring so recently and am still in the return period in addition to the fact that they kind of messed up my order in the first place by not making the prongs clawed. I’m now wondering what they will be doing with my ring since from your email they wouldn’t even be able to set the new f1 h&a. I haven’t heard from Chris about my ring since I sent it in. It arrived Monday at their facility so I figured I would give them a few days to get back to me about it. I think the holidays just really bogged them down which is why they are taking a little longer to respond. Completely understandable.

The original C&C H&A’s were discontinued due to the black dot issue.
So MossCo is admitting they’re selling identical stones that have been known to be faulty. 🙄
I just don’t want the black dot. Apparently it is “table reflection” but it looks like a cheap stone. And it isn’t.
Surely C&C wouldn’t release a second round of the same stone, considering it had to be discontinued the first time. So that would mean the stones my MossCo & the new H&A’s would be different?
