At the beginning of October I hadn’t had my period since August. Went to fertility clinic, got my period October 5th, same day. I forgot that I should have gone back CD 3, etc, etc for a cycle monitoring. I had an interview the day I was supposed to go back and for some reason let things go with the clinic.
I am scheduled to go tomorrow since I am not ovulating at all. They mentioned the option of waiting for a new cycle. They said they will not give me ovulation meds tomorrow (haven’t ovulated on my own since starting out there in July).
Could this appt be useful (u/s, bloodwork) or maybe not? My follow up is not till December and I am getting frustrated.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

They do certain testing on certain days of your cycle, since you’ve already missed follow ups this cycle and they won’t give you anything to help you ovulate at this point, you might as well wait for the next cycle and make sure you get to all of your appointments so they can treat you properly.

That sounds like a good plan. My only diagnostic cycle was in July because I was then referred elsewhere. I guess I wasn’t used to the pattern of monitoring and just assumed if I got my period I would not need to go back for the Provera. My mistake.

weightwatchers152: What do they say tomorrow’s appointment is for? Were they going to medicate you this cycle if you had gone in for CD3 testing? If you missed that appointment and didn’t get meds, it’s not clear to me what this “mid-cycle” appointment would be for.
What is the follow up in December? What are they following up on? I know from your prior posts that you have a few other issues going on – are you being treated for any of those?

AgileK9s: Tomorrow’s appointment is to check and see if I have any mature follicle(s). I am not sure if they would have given me medication had I gone for CD3 testing. I think I might have misunderstood that I was to begin a new diagnostic monitoring cycle after I got my period.
I had not been treated at all because in July when they did the first u/s, they found what they believed to be a large cyst. I was sent to a cancer centre for a consult. An MRI confirmed it was not a cyst but a dialated, swollen fallopian tube. I had to wait a while for that to be read and just got the results. Hopefully by now the report has been sent to the fertility clinic. Have an 2nd MRI in mid November to check for any changes. I have not ovulated on my own at all during their investigations which they believe is due to high prolactin. The fertility specialist did not want to begin any kind of treatment until the consult with the cancer centre. So, no treatment has begun.
When I made the appt for tomorrow they said I may get an opportunity to talk with my fertility specialist if she is not doing a treatment. I plan to go prepared with my questions and concerns. I would really hope something could be done before December 10th.
Hopefully I get some kind of feedback and instructions tomorrow.

weightwatchers152: How frustrating for you! I think you’re on the right track – you need to come up with a plan for attacking this going forward, whether this cycle or the next. Your MRI results are in, so now they can start talking treatments. Once everyone is on the same page, I think your path will be much clearer.

AgileK9s: Yes I agree. I often say I wish all of the doctors were together discussing in one conference room–issues a, b, c, d….
Thank you for your kind words and sharing your great TTC insight. Good luck to you! 🙂
