@mrsrigsby60:  Hey I was just in The Baking Grounds Bakery in Suwanee GA, and they told me they are offering 20% off to all former Celsos cake customers. They do the best work anywhere. Cakes of all kinds, and a great bakery cafe too. Hope this helps…

I’m in the same boat.  I have 8 days to scramble to get a new cake because of this.  I think it’s a married couple that ran/owned that place… so I can only guess that something personal has happened.  While that is a shame- they still should have finished out by fulfilling current orders.  Very unprofessional.  Sucks- because their cakes were SO YUMMY.  Here’s one of the emails that I got from them:

We are sad to announce that our business has closed. Mr. Celso Rodriguez, Pastry Chef and Owner of Celso’s Cakes Inc. has walked away from this business on Friday, August 24th, 2012 early am and I was unable to contact him regarding any future cake orders and its deliveries what he is responsible for, which forced me to closed this business effective 8/25/2012. We are in process to contact each client individually and see what is the next step in order to provide refunds etc. Feel free to contact Mr. Rodriguez directly for any additional questions @ 678-227-9263.

I wanted to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this have caused and I will do my absolute best to handle your case as fast as possible.

I thank you for your kind understanding. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.

I believe that they will be figuring out refunds… and aren’t just trying to run with people’s money. I’m gonna give it some time.

@KatGirl04:  Did you get this by emailing that [email protected] address? Responses seem to be extremely difficult to come by with this guy. Sounds like he might be in way over his head.

This is such a sad situation. I am so sorry that this has happened to any of you. I can not imagine the stress you guys are going through. I want to believe that this situation is bigger than what we outwardly see because he made my cake in July. This is just a sad, sad situation ladies.

@GroundhogDay:  Nope, I emailed them back and said if I don’t hear from them about arranging a refund soon I am going to police and Governor’s Board for consumer protection.  The email is dead wrong, Celso Rodriguez is not responsible for refunds- the company and its remaining assets are.  Such a mess!

Hi All,

It’s a mess I know and who knows what the actual truth is, but I did just get my cake from Celso on Sept 15th. His new assistant reached out to me before I got the “closing” email actually which saved me some major stress. Not sure how long he’ll be able to continue to honor the contracts for, but try this email, it worked for me [email protected]

@h3mags:  somehow i highly doubt he delivered your cake when no one has been able to get ahold of him to get their money back.
