Do any bees have a ring with a diamond center stone and moissanite side stones? I really like the idea of diamonds but am also attracted to the price of moissanites. I think I read once that the yellowness of moissanites isn’t as obvious in smaller stones, so I thought why not have the little stones be moissy and the big one be a diamond? If anyone has a ring like that, I would love to see pictures!
Note: Yes, I would be one of those people who would try to pass them off as diamonds. I understand that moissanites are a completely different stone than diamonds, but I would still want them to look like and perceived as diamonds.

Because they do look and behave differently I wouldn’t recommend mixing the two, especially if you want it to look like all diamonds. It will be “navy sock, black shoe.” Not just because of color. Smaller diamonds can be quite cost-effective, especially with some bargain hunting and negotiating.

My understanding is that the price of melee moissanite is comparible to that of diamonds anyhow, so the savings wouldn’t be as great as you’d think they’d be.. Especially when you can get away with slightly less quality stones in the melee sizes for diamonds too. The cost of a 1ct diamond to a 1ct equiavlent moissy is quite considerable so I think that’s the reason you see more moissy centres with diamond sides or moissy centres with moissy sides and not the other way around? I could be totally wrong though!
So exciting to start getting ideas about rings though!! I hope your proposal is not too far away =)

I don’t believe you’d be saving any money by having your ring set with moissanite side stones at all, and moissanite looks different than diamond because it is different.
Most people would assume they are diamond, especially small side stones, but since I don’t see any benefits to have moissy side stones over diamond, especially if you will have a center diamond, I’d just go ahead and get diamond in the setting. That way you won’t have to ever worry about trying to pass off something for what it’s not, 🙂

Using moissanite side stones isnt going to save anything. The cost of a setting with diamonds vs moissanite is probably going to be about the same. I had one of my diamonds diamonds in a band almost fall out once and I asked the jeweler how much it would have been to replace if it did, his exact response “oh dont worry those are cheap, like $20.”

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I was hoping there was a bigger price difference, but if it’s going to be about the same anyway I’ll just go with diamonds.
@joya_aspera: The shoe/sock comparison made me shutter…I hate when people do that, and I would hate for my ring to be anything like that!
